About the Role

This position reports directly to the Paint Process Leader and is responsible for the general and specific job duties as described below:

General Job Duties:
•    To exhibit an objective, fair and professional attitude that exemplifies the principles outlined in The MAGNA Employee’s Charter to maintain a positive and productive workplace.

•    Ensure a spirit of respect, cooperation, ethical conduct and fair dealing in all our operations between our internal, external customers and suppliers.
 

Your Responsibilities

•    To direct and follow Decostar Industries health and safety policies and procedures that provide for a safe and healthful workplace for all Decostar Industries employees, contractors and visitors.
•    Exemplify the Charter principle for a safe and healthful workplace by correcting unsafe behaviors, eliminate or reduce the possibility of an employee injury due to hazardous conditions.
•    Immediately respond, in a positive and proactive manner to any Decostar employee’s health and safety concern or suggestion.
•    Immediately report any accidents, incidents or near misses to the Safety Department and complete the required Accident Reporting Forms within 24 hours.
•    Complete all required safety-related inspections.
•    Do not install or make changes to any equipment or machinery that may jeopardize the health and safety of any employee.
•    Continually monitor and troubleshoot all processes related to the paint process. React to feedback from internal and external customers and participate in 8-D, 5 Why and related problem-solving activities.
•    Support departmental and KOI goals to accomplish business plan objectives.
•    Support paint tooling program development and launch activities.
•    Provide technical support to track data for paint efficiency metrics.
•    Identify, communicate and document any difficulties relating to the product, process and/or quality system as per Decostar TS16949 directives.
•    Initiate, recommend or provide solutions utilizing error-proofing techniques to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to the product, process and/or quality system through designated channels.
•    Develop, implement, verify and document parameter settings for all paint process and application equipment to maintain the specified quality standards detailed in the control plans for all products.
•    Track, record and prepare management reports detailing process capability and trend analyses of key parameters as directed by paint management.
•    Coordinate with paint management and other paint line personnel in the completion of process related projects and improvements.
•    Communicate and cooperate with paint suppliers on usage optimization, formulation compatibility, paint performance and quality issues.
•    Work with equipment suppliers to accurately collect application and performance data on new technology tested in the painting process.
•    Actively participate in continuous improvement teams as assigned by paint management.
•    Perform other duties as assigned.

Who we are looking for

•    Previous automotive finishing and robotic experience required.
•    Experience with industrial control, computer technology and programming is an asset.
•    Experience in computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Project (or similar)
•    Fluent in English (reading and writing).
•    Technical ability in areas such as robot programming, maintenance activities, PLC programming, etc.

Your preferred qualifications

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required. Five years work related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. Work experience combined with current schooling towards degree will be considered.
•    Must be computer literate on the Windows platform.
•    Must pass Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Point Hue Test Annually
