Accounts Payable Analyst

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: The Accounts Payable Administrator effectively process in a timely manner the manufacturing and sub-contractor expense areas of Accounts Payable (A/P) and other accounting responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Controller and/or Controller. Using the IBM AS400 system, the individual will accumulate month end accruals; prepare weekly check/ACH run; prepare manual checks and wires as needed; Issue supplier debit/credit memos; Reconcile employee expense reports and relocation expenses; Reconcile inter-company balances, utilities, and manufacturing expense accounts; Record foreign exchange rates; Filing, maintenance and organization of Accounts Payable files; enter and edit Journal Entries in General Ledger system; Report unresolved issues to supervisor; prepare spreadsheets as required; Update Accounts Payable procedures as needed. Housekeeping and other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  High School diploma required; 2-year Associate’s degree in Accounting is preferred.  A/P administration and current computer software applications. 3-4 years working experience preferred. Must have working knowledge of accounting principles through General Ledger; Accounts Payable; office/clerical experience. Prior purchasing experience helpful but not required. Ability to read, write and speak English. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Accuracy and attention to detail. Basic math skills and ability to use adding machine. Excellent follow-up and problem-solving skills; good interpersonal skills to work effectively with vendors and other team members. Ability to be cross trained in other areas of accounting. Availability to work overtime as required. Ability to operate common office equipment including adding machine.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to access data stored on computer, LAN (Local Area Network) and PC (Personal Computer) applications; extended sitting and standing; ability to move around and between facilities; some reaching and bending; occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds may be required. Compliance with personal protective equipment as required.

 

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED: Personal computers, telephone, facsimile, copier, office equipment, knowledge of assorted machinery used in manufacturing process.
