JOB PROFILE:

To build, repair, and maintain dies, fixtures, and all other tooling related to the manufacture and assembly of stamped, roll formed, and welded steel automobile components.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for quality and conformance of product to customer specifications per control plans utilizing TS16949 & ISO14001 documented systems; authority to stop non-conforming processes and report same to supervisor, Quality Assurance and/or Engineering department representative.

 

 

 

Role Summary
  • To build, repair, and maintain dies, fixtures, and all other tooling related to the manufacture and assembly of stamped, roll formed, and welded steel automobile components.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work to blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions to repair and maintain stamping dies and assembly tooling
  • Support production department with tooling needs; respond to shop-floor calls in a timely manner
  • Assure safe operation and care of tool room equipment
  • Produce quality work in a timely manner
  • Assess complex tooling and equipment needs and refurbish as required
  • Troubleshoot and solve tooling problems without assistance
  • Set up and operate all tool room equipment with no assistance (with exception of CNC equipment)
  • Work to continuously improve tooling and reduce scrap
  • Housekeeping and other activities as assigned
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement and emergency repair projects individually or within a team
  • Must be willing to share knowledge of the trade and train apprentices
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • 6 years minimum (including apprenticeship)
  • Tool & Die Maker experience
  • Crane certification required

  • Ability to operate all standard tool room equipment
  • Must be able to work without supervision and lead small teams as may be required on large and complex projects

  • Ability to work overtime
  • Individual must observe all safety regulations to ensure own and others’ safety
