About the Role
The job requires completing an Apprenticeship Training Standard Book and working under the guidance of a qualified Tool and Die Maker. Responsibilities include repairing and rebuilding extrusion dies, building new dies and tooling, participating in testing and development, and repairing downstream dies and tooling.
Your Responsibilities

Complete Apprenticeship Training Standard Book, provided by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

Must be able to perform the following duties under the direction/ guidance of a qualified Tool and Die Maker:

Repair or rebuild extrusion dies by matching and polishing as required.

Build new extrusion dies and related tooling as specified by the die designer.

Actively participate in the testing and development of extrusion dies by assisting the die designer during tool try-outs.

Repair or rebuild downstream dies and tooling as required

Consistently work to close tolerances.

Verify conformance of extrusion dies, downstream dies and tooling by checking dimensions, clearances and alignments using micrometre, Vernier and shadow graph.

Operate a variety of machine tools such as drill press, lathe, milling machine, sink EDM, wire EDM, surface grinder, CNC mill and CNC lathe.

Manufacture, fit and assemble spare parts for extrusion dies downstream dies and tooling.

Perform preventative maintenance and clean-up of all tool room equipment.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Promote and comply with safety standards, safe operating procedures, good housekeeping practices and the observance of protective equipment requirements at all times.

Any other reasonable duty required by Management.
Who we are looking for
-
Secondary School diploma or equivalent required
-
1-3 years of tool and die making experience an asset, preferably in an automotive trim manufacturing environment
