Role Summary

Co-Ex-Tec, a division of Magna Exteriors, is hiring an Extrusion Operator for the NIGHT SHIFT at our Vaughan location to set-up, start-up and operate the extrusion lines. If you have a demonstrated mechanical aptitude, proven experience with the Extrusion process and the ability to methodically problem solve mechanical and process issues, we invite you to join our team.

 

Key Responsibilities
  1. Set-up, start-up and operate the Extrusion lines, independently: PVC or EPDM; Co-Extrusion / Extrusion, or operate designated section of EPDM line(s). 
  2. Help EPDM Operator to start up and run the EPDM line, when required.
  3. Maintain consistent product output and standard quality for production. 
  4. Make recommendations for the improvement of the production process. 
  5. Responsible for line efficiency, scrap and quality.
  6. Operate shadowgraph, cut section, and check Mylar; clean and check dies.
  7. Ensure that all lot numbers of materials used are documented on the run sheet.
  8. Help the set-up member to set-up profile during the changeover.
  9. Pack cut profile at end of extrusion line, as required.
  10. Oversee and guide co-workers, as required.  Provide guidance and assistance to co-workers in trouble-shooting.
  11. Act as relief packer, as required.
  12. Able to start up and operate the PVC, EPDM, Co-Extrusion / Extrusion lines independently with a minimum of scrap and in a reasonable amount of time
  13. Follow all work cell and/or department standardized work instructions/procedures
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
  • Minimum 2 years experience in extrusion, preferably as a line assistant/helper
  • MUST be able to pass a Lockout Tag out training course and test
  • Good communication skills, English both written and verbal;
  • Able to change puller belt and saw blade
  • Able to effectively operate presses and assembly machines
  • Able to lift heavy objects specific to operation
  • Able to operate shadow graph and work with Mylar
  • Desire to take ownership for line quality, productivity
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, an asset
