Division Summary

Maple Stamping, a Division of the Cosma International Group of Magna International Inc., is a long-standing automotive stamping and assembly shop that has a great story and a rich history as part of the Magna Family.


An amalgamation of two prior shops dating back to 1978, the modern Maple Stamping as we now know it was formed in 2008 here in Concord, Ontario, Canada. Our Materials, Planning & Logistics Team (or "MP&L" for short) is only a couple of years old, and features a department makeup that consists of many key job functions related to the mainteance and development of our supply chain both within the facility and beyond as millions of our components are shipped annually to customers around the Globe. It is functionally a combination of skilled material handling personnel that support operations within our four walls, and production control staff entrusted with the planning, organization and shipment of goods. There are no redundancies - every role is a key piece of the puzzle. Role Summary

This position works under the direction of the Materials Manager and will assume the responsibility in assisting the MP&L department to fulfill the necessary TS16949, ISO14001 and Divisional requirements. This includes the development of all customer and internal packaging requirements and document control. You will work closely with the Program Managers at the quoting stage of programs and work closely with Operations during the production phase to ensure the best solutions are developed. You will be responsible to contact the supply base and assist them with a statement of release ("SOR") for all engineering changes. You will be responsible in assisting to develop standard work instruction and other engineering documents as required.


This is a technical role that requires a strong educational background. However, the successful or ideal candidate is not someone that spends the majority of their time behind a desk. You must be comfortable with spending a fair amount of time on the shop floor, where the processes and procedures you support truly live and breathe. You are capable of using complicated software to develop ideas, but you also have the creativity and knowledge of best practices in order to make the most of those capabilities. Furthermore, this is a function that will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to truly become an important part of the entire life cycle of an automotive program, from outset to conclusion. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with cross-functional launch teams to develop the correct packaging requirements and maintain packaging files for production.
  • Interface with Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Development, and Operations partners to gather and develop packaging requirements.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to drive projects to enable the most efficient delivery of parts possible without sacrificing part quality or manufacturability.
  • Provide design direction and development plans of protective packaging containers, dunnage and unique shipping racks – domestic and international.
  • Develop all packing requirements for internal material handling (work in progress or "WIP" product) and engineering changes.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine physical requirements, quality, safety and materials needs.
  • Create drawings, specifications, samples, and written analyses of packaging for approvals
  • Understand Program Systems and customer documentation.
  • Ensure Packaging and Logistic Compliance to OEM specifications.
  • Control Point for Plant PFEP.
  • Maintain value stream mapping documents (VSM's) for all required processes.
  • Support the design, implementation and continuous improvement of internal material flows and mobile equipment routes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Post secondary education in Engineering or Logistics and/or 3-5 years equivalent experience.
  • APICS Certification in CLTD would be an asset
  • Experience in EPICOR CMS would be an asset
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment would be an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Good command of the English language both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to work in a strict confidential environment.
