Division Summary

Maple Stamping, a Division of the Cosma Canada & USA Group of Magna International Inc., is a long-standing automotive stamping and assembly shop that has a great story and a rich history as part of the Magna Family.


An amalgamation of two prior shops dating back to 1978, the modern Maple Stamping as we now know it was formed in 2008 here in Concord, Ontario, Canada. The Maintenance Department, to which you are encouraged to apply to today, is comprised of a diverse team of licenced tradespeople that are well versed in all elements common to a competitive and modern manufacturing facility in North America. Mechanical, electrical, control systems, programming and a deep understanding of welding are joined together to address problems and promote continuous improvement in the areas of heavy brake press stamping, automated welding, robotics, safety systems, visions systems and general automation. Role Summary

As an Electrician with our Maintenance Department, you will leverage your knowledge and training to repair and care for a host of industrial manufacturing equipment. Common activities include installing or maintaining wiring, motors, transformers, generators, lighting and other electrical systems and components in full compliance of the electrical code and all Maple safety procedures.


As a member of an interdisciplinary team that includes millwrights, toolmakers, robot and weld technicians, you will support preventative maintenance actions and respond to numerous service calls as they arise in both the Assembly and Press areas of the plant.


In considering the ideal candidate for this role, you will represent one of two key kinds of individuals. You are either a seasoned, certified journeyperson with years of related industrial experinece in either a brake stamping or automated welding environment, or an eager newcomer to the field of automotive manufacturing that may have just earned their licence, but have proven themselves in school and/or skills competitions. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance on plant facilities and equipment as required. 
  • Schedule routine maintenance to ensure the most efficient flow of production with the least possible downtime. 
  • Work with production scheduler to schedule repairs ensuring scheduler is aware when work assignments cannot be completed as planned. 
  • Capable of programming controls equipment beyond the level of simple troubleshooting (PLC, drives, safety PLC, weld timers, robots, etc.)
  • Maintain own work area clean, tidy and a safe environment in which to work.
  • Maintain maintenance logs as required.
  • Capable of identifying and utilizing external resources (vendors, contractors, technical support, etc.) 
  • Conduct final safety approval of repaired equipment where necessary.
Key Competencies
  • Assertive and self-motivated with the ability to analyze and prioritize tasks in order to plan work.
  • Values safety and careful adherence to safety policies as a priority over all other factors while completing work independently or as a team.
  • Intimate knowledge of equipment and processes within scope of job. Certified in use of all required equipment.
  • Competency with electrical code in order to design and build circuits for production machines or power distribution.
  • Openness to new ideas, departmental and organizational change; capable of mobilizing ideas into actions.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis and troubleshooting techniques of common equipment problems.
  • Knowledge, and ideally past experience working on MEDAR and Lincoln welders.
  • Creative problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Proficient in FANUC programming.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess an Ontario/Journeyman Certificate of Qualification for Electrician (442 or 309A).
  • Minimum two (2) years’ related experience in an industrial environment.    
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, both written and verbal.
  • Possession of one’s own tool box and tools necessary to perform electrical work.
  • Experience using industrial equipment such as aerial platforms considered a key asset.
Work Environment
  • Must be able to support working on the basis of rotating shifts, days (6:45 am - 3:00 pm) and afternoons (2:45 pm - 11:00 pm). Rotation is based on a two-week schedule.
  • Working under general supervision of Supervisor or Designee.
  • Required to wear all PPE including company provided uniforms, ear plugs, safety glasses, CSA-approved footwear and any relevant job-specific items.
  • Required to carry out routine, repetitive tasks such as reaching, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, lifting, packing, stacking and bending.
  • Regularly exposed to noise, temperature change and on occasion lubricants.
  • May be required to work overtime as dictated by customer requirements or projects at hand.
