Role Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for the movement of all Materials items as required to ensure the efficient flow of production through the use of various lifting equipment, manual application and completing all paperwork as required including pre-shift equipment inspection forms. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the coordinated movement of containers to and from locations within plant (trucks, machines, outside storage) as well as ensuring load / containers etc. are balanced and secure before moving:
    • Movement of all containers to various locations inside and outside the plant
    • All scrap removal from machines
    • All cardboard movement to and from machines
    • Movement of totes through decanting to and from work cells to support in process inventory
  • Accurately completes all paperwork as required including Pre Shift Equipment Inspection forms
  • Support maintenance of inventory through identifying, verifying, labelling and placing material. 
  • Ensure accuracy of inventory through use of RF Gun
  • Pick, wrap and stage orders to be shipped
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • High school/GED or equivalent with previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Background in manufacturing with experience in quality and safety initiatives
  • Must hold a valid counter-balance forklift certificate
  • 1 year related experience
  • Dealing with Complexity, Deadline-Oriented
  • Physically capable of performing essential duties of the job
  • Working knowledge of the English language both written and oral.

Physical Demands

  • Works under general supervision of Production Supervisor or Designee.
  • Required to carry out routine, repetitive tasks such as reaching, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, lifting, packing, stacking and bending, must be capable of lifting 25 – 30lbs repetitively. Lifting may be required up to 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Regular exposure to noise/temperature and/or adverse weather conditions, depending upon season.
  • Regular exposure to lubricants and vibration.
  • Works rotating shift with occasional overtime if Customer requirements.
  • Wears all PPE including company provided uniforms.
