OVERVIEW

Co-Ex-Tec, a division of Magna Exteriors, is hiring a Mould Maker for Night shift at our Concord location. You will ensure the continuous operation of all plant equipment and machinery.  If you have a valid Mould Maker License and are a results-driven, hands-on individual, we invite you to join our team.

LEADERSHIP SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides functional or technical guidance and/or informal training or instruction to co-workers.  Occasionally coordinates the work of others including the assignment of tasks to employees, co-workers or volunteers.  Directs the work to be done but is not responsible for the supervision of workers.  

FINANCIAL & LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES

No involvement in financial matters.  

HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure all safety and non-safety rules and regulations are followed. Review and adhere to division-specific health and safety, environmental, and quality standards, operating procedures, and policies. Respond and report in a timely manner to items brought to his/her attention with respect to hazards, defects or non-compliance issues. Understand and uphold the policies that prohibit workplace violence and harassment.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Perform the work of a Mould Maker often at a level requiring greater judgment, experience and skills.
  2. Repair and test moulds and tooling by lay out, setting up, machining and finishing metal stock.
  3. Verify conformance of repaired moulds or tooling to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances, and alignments, consistently working to close tolerances.
  4. Repair and troubleshoot moulds in moulding machines and diagnose faults during preventative maintenance procedures.
  5. Operate a variety of machine tools to cut, mill, grind or otherwise repair work piece to prescribed dimensions and finish.
  6. Operate crane to remove and/or relocate moulds to specific work station/equipment.
  7. Provide assistance and guidance to a team of Mould Makers and Apprentices to support production and related problems.
  8. Must be willing to work on all Downstream Tooling as required in both Plant locations as Toolroom Supervisors see fit  
  9. In the process of building tooling, verifies tool designs for feasibility and functionality before completion, feeding back any modifications or concerns to supervisor.
  10. Dismantle and repair or replace mould parts, units or fixtures, fitting and assembling parts and testing repaired tooling for proper operation, operating press as required.
  11. Fit and assemble new tools then test completed tooling for operation by proving out in a press, unit or fixture.
EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
  • Secondary School diploma or equivalent
  • Completed Ontario Certificate of Apprenticeship (Mould Maker) required
  • Must possess hand finishing capabilities, hand benching and polishing
  • Good communication, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess basic knowledge of electrical and hydraulics as applied to moulds
  • Ability to TIG Weld, an asset
  • Minimum 2 years mould making experience, preferably in an automotive trim manufacturing environment
