Role Summary

  • Operates all equipment (presses, air fixtures, hand tools, assembly fixtures, etc.) as per operator instructions sheets. This is accomplished by selecting and placing blanks or rolled sections into the equipment / machine, transferring parts from station to station, and activating the equipment.
  • Inspects parts at the frequency and according to the method described in the inspection instruction sheets.
  • Reports any product non-conformance to the Supervisor or Leadhand immediately. Suggests corrective action where applicable.
  • Ensures the proper reporting of production by assuring that the counter is set to zero at the beginning of the shift, accurately reports production on the direct labour time sheet at the end of the production run or the end of the shift and resets the counter to zero.
  • Tags or labels each container at the machine prior to filling and fills each container with the proper number of parts indicated on the packaging instruction sheets or production requirements.      
  • Ensures machine and work area are kept clean, tidy and safe at all times.  Assures that their area is cleaned at the end of the production run or shift and ready for the next shift.
  • Follows all safety rules (including the wearing of personal protective equipment) and other requirements that are outlined in the employees hand book or other company rules or procedures. Co-operates with the safety committee.
  • Completes and records equipment safety checks prior to the operation of the equipment.  Reports any unsafe conditions to their supervisor immediately.
  • Participates in work cell rotation as required.
  • Performs SPC of parts as required.
  • Maintains part quality as per part specific work instructions.
  • Required to obtain efficiency rates as per the program standards.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Basic working knowledge of English, verbal and written.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Ability to operate all machines relating to the job.
  • Must have more than 6 months experience in a Manufacturing environment.

Grade 10 level education or equivalent years of work experience.
