Role Summary

Co-Ex-Tec, a division of Magna Exteriors, is hiring an Injection Moulding Process Technician for our Concord location. If you have in depth injection moulding experience on large tonnage moulding machines (1600-1900 tons) and proven experience achieving the best part quality and optimal process on injection moulding lines through the performance of regular audits, maintenance and enforcement of operating parameters, we invite you to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Complete all relevant documentation for mold change.
  2. Verify tool specific setup (i.e. Program, cycle time).
  3. Troubleshoot and work with other departments to solve problems.
  4. Carry out and coordinate mold change activities according to procedure and instructions.
  5. Prepare all required pre-mold change activities.
  6. Housekeeping:  ensure all work areas are kept clean and organized.
  7. Setup all molds as required (i.e. First/ last off).
  8. Responsible for all technical aspects of mold change, including setting and verifying parameters, organizing work areas, quality problems and troubleshooting quality concerns.
  9. Responsible for part quality and has the authority to stop production, if necessary, to correct quality problems.
  10. Responsible to notify Supervisor and/or Injection Department Manager of defective equipment, tools or parts (i.e. bolts, clamps etc.) to ensure we are installing and operating our molds in a safe manner. Examples of “defective” include but are not limited to worn, leaking air hoses to impact gun, damaged platen hoses/inserts, bolt heads worn, bolt threads damaged etc.
  11. Responsible for proper handling, storage, and disposal of all chemicals, used materials, and equipment.
  12. Initiate machine process, make adjustments within process tolerance and recommend any changes for improved efficiencies to the Molding Manager.
  13. Continually monitor all processes related to Injection Molding.
  14. Analyze and resolve any process problems. Resolve any product non-conformity issues that may arise per the request from Supervisor.
  15. Setup and startup of new tools and resins for trial.
  16. Conform to the implementation of continuous process improvement in the molding department.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years Injection Molding experience required.
  • Course work relating to Injection Molding an asset.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Good communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. to the waist and 30 lbs. overhead
  • Basic mathematical and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems.
