Minimum Qualifications:

  • Progressive experience working within a Press Shop with proficient knowledge of various Presses and related equipment.
  • Proficiency with the use of software programs including all core applications included in Microsoft Office.
  • Thorough understanding of company product, quality management and control systems and techniques, manufacturing processes including material controls, work flow, scheduling, Kanban, machine operation and company policies/standards.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while applying Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Thorough knowledge of the English language both written and oral.
  • Proven record of reliable attendance, performance history, no discipline on file and evidence of participation in continuous improvement programs.
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete Supervisor Competency Pt. 1 training, as well as all functional training requirements (overhead crane, mobile equipment) within the first 3 months on the job.

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Ensure daily processes start-up efficiently and supporting appropriate quality control checks.
  • Support team members in meeting production goals, removing roadblocks and heeding concerns of the team.
  • Ensure that standardized work is followed with diligence and consistency.
  • Ensure that parts/material are supplied to the processes being supervised.
  • Perform routine checks to confirm quality and production goals are being met.
  • Respond to problem calls for quality, process or other issues.
  • Support initiating work orders for maintenance where required.
  • Cover production for absenteeism/breaks as required

  • Desire to learn, understand, promote and teach the lean philosophies, skills and tools required (including TWI, one piece flow, standardized work, kaizen, etc.), to achieve Maple Stamping’s goal of becoming a model of lean manufacturing.
  • Ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to motivate and/or inspire others to achieve Maple Stamping’s operational goals.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency in achieving goals.
  • Must be able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks and function in stressful situations.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Understands the importance of gathering and utilizing relevant data in the decision making process.
  • Exceptional language of workplace skills including relevant technical verbiage in keeping with their job responsibilities.
  • Work with Safety as a mindset, demonstrating complete awareness and concern for the safety and wellbeing of all plant employees.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Training and cross-training of Team Members.
  • Facilitate or support facilitation of small group activities.
  • Support on-going continuous improvement (kaizen) projects.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing/observing/following safe work practices, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Other duties that may be assigned.

Work Environment

  • Required to carry out routine, repetitive tasks such as reaching, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, crouching, lifting, packing, stacking, bending, climbing, shoveling as well as physical lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly exposed to noise, temperature change, outdoor exposure and lubricants and vibration
  • Plant environment subject to fluctuations in temperature.
  • Wears PPE as required.
