Role Summary
The Controls Engineer will provide support, leadership and direction to the Maintenance Technicians and perform controls function for the Assembly Maintenance Department. The Controls Engineer will support and carry out the assignments and responsibilities given them by the area Manager.
Key Responsibilities
The Assembly Industrial Engineer works on compliance and Continual Improvement projects as it relates to Safety, Quality, Efficiency and Cost. Implements Continual Improvement projects, leads teams in Ergonomics and Safety processes as well as improves Work, Walk and Wait opportunities. Coordinates and plans flow improvements in material storage areas and streamlining all Non-Value Add activities. Maintains and drives Continual Improvement activities for Assembly department with focus on Up-Front engineering design and day to day Lean Manufacturing process improvements. Utilizes latest in technology and Best Practices to achieve World Class operating production systems.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Ensure scheduled maintenance task are completed and on time.
- Identify training needs for Maintenance Technicians. Provide requirements to the Assembly Manager and training department.
- Provide leadership and direction during equipment downtime situations. Make good judgment decisions on technical matters and interface effectively with production supervision.
- Ensures Root Cause of downtime is properly investigated and addressed.
- Being competent with computer office related software. (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, etc)
- Robotics troubleshooting on robots.
- Electrical circuit troubleshooting.
- Pneumatic troubleshooting.
- Ensure new parts get ordered or returned unused part back to the correct stock location.
- Attend meetings on the Assembly Departments as needed.
Additional Information
•Ability to achieve results using Industrial Engineering methods, Lean Manufacturing/TPS tools, and Six Sigma analysis.
•Understanding of production scheduling and inventory control
•Strong problem solving skills.
•Strong math skills and understanding of statistics.
•Ability to develop and maintain working models of computer-based evaluation tools.
•Proficient in AutoCAD 13 or higher.
•Advanced level of ability in MS Excel including the use of macros and other high level functions within Excel.
•Must be a self-starter, open minded and a team player.
•Basic understanding of 8D, FMEA, APQP and SPC.
•Basic understanding of standardized work and kaizen activity.
