Role Summary

Coordinate the maintenance of and change out tools and molds as needed.  Also, includes the proper tagging and storing of molds.  Work may involve irregular work schedules and exposure to chemicals, high voltage from electrostatic equipment, loud noise, heavy moving of equipment/machinery, and/or work in high places and confined spaces.  Work on special projects requiring hands-on mechanical aptitude.  Will work with the EM/Technician to install or integrate new or changed machine components

Key Responsibilities

  1. Changes molds or fixtures in accordance with local procedures which may include minor tool repair and/or insert changes.  Documents changes and adjusts processes and/or involves appropriate resources to adjust outside of parameters.
  2. Performs weekly and monthly PM’s on molds and related fixtures.  Assists and/or performs maintenance on equipment in respective areas of responsibility including; molding machines, robots, hydraulic pumps, gauges, heaters, and other auxiliary equipment.   Daily cleaning and seal replacement in tools.
  3. Performs housekeeping duties and maintains facilities including cleaning, organizing, disposal of grease/fluids, etc. 
  4. Maintenance and 5-S in Chemical Storage Areas. 
  5. Follows procedures pertaining to safety waste handling, which includes prescribed lock out/tag out procedures when working on equipment to prevent injury. 
  6. Performs quality inspection of parts after changeovers to ensure quality standards/guidelines are met.  Visually checks parts against process control sheets.  Communicates with appropriate personnel regarding performance of machines/equipment in assigned area and to verify changeovers and/or schedule changes.
  7. Performs startup/shutdown of machines as required by the MCL.
  8. Performs other duties as necessary.  Properly handles and disposes of any hazardous waste material in respective areas.  May train other staff.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  1. High School diploma or equivalent with the ability to learn quickly.  Basic math/reading skills including using decimals, fractions, geometry, etc.
  2.  Basic knowledge of computers, equipment, tools, and paperwork associated with job including thorough understanding of standard work, in-process control sheets, and customer driven quality requirements.
  3. Minimum 2 years setup experience.
  4. Ability to operate the overhead crane.
  5. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  6. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 
  7. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude (i.e. to perform set-up of equipment, etc.) with ability to read and interpret blueprints/schematics. 
  8. Knowledge of materials used in processes with a Hi-lo license or ability to obtain a hi-lo license to move materials, equipment, etc. High degree of manual dexterity with the ability to lift 40 pounds or more to change molds and tools, move materials, machines, etc.       
  9. Good communication and interaction skills to interact with internal contacts with the ability to work without direct supervision.
  10. Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot processes and equipment.
