Group Description

This position will be a part of a new start-up joint venture between LM Manufacturing and Magna Seating.  The Seating JIT Assembly plant is located in Detroit, MIchigan.  This position is on C - Crew and the hours and days are Friday & Saturday - 6:00am to 4:30pm and Sunday & Monday - 6:00pm to 4:30am.

Role Summary

Plans, directs and coordinates all activities relating to maintenance operations across all shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports production in reducing and eliminating equipment/tooling downtime and scrap utilizing good analytical methodologies (solid experience in preventive/predictive maintenance, spare parts inventory, plc upgrades, electrical).
  • Supervises maintenance employees across all shifts ensuring that they are trained as required and performing satisfactorily and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Maintains and issues daily job assignments; records and evaluates the results of Preventive Maintenance.
  • Provides production support by troubleshooting and resolving machine PLC related issues
  • Establishes project plans and spare parts inventory to ensure equipment and tooling is operating in a safe manner and maintained properly. 
  • Establishes and maintains a disaster recovery plan for current equipment, tooling and projects.
  • Participates as a member of the division’s safety committee.
  • Responds to safety work orders and action items in a timely manner.
  • Provides timely feedback on work performance including completion of performance reviews based on established schedule.
  • Works with contractors on projects.
  • Generate purchase orders as well as spare parts
  • Checks-in new equipment, generates PM's and ensures spare parts are ordered.
  • Ensures Company policies and procedures are adhered to.  Collaborate with Department Manager and Human Resources Manager in the administration of disciplinary action when necessary.

  • Enforces safety rules, policies, and procedures consistently.
  • Responds to and investigates all reports of injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses and property damage immediately.
  • Thoroughly trains new and transferred employees, corrects or commends employee’s health and safety performance, and addresses employee’s safety performance in scheduled performance appraisals.
  • Takes an active part in the division’s safety program by performing regular workplace inspections, effectively investigates accidents/incidents promptly, and assists in meeting or exceeding the division’s safety goals.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years experience within the industrial maintenance setting.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor within the automotive manufacturing sector including production, facility, preventive maintenance and spare parts management.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, PLC, Robotics.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate hand and power tools; and shop tools including lathe, Bridgeport and band saw. 
  • Working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC controls, including RSLogix500 and RSLogix5000 platforms, RSLogix, Panelview and Panelview Plus HMI applications.
