Role Summary

Leads the paint department in a way that supports the Magna Charter, Corporate Constitution, customers, investors, and employees.  They will support the Area leaders, Team Leaders, and Assembly Employees by providing guidance and tools they need in order to be safe and productive.

The Paint manager is responsible for all employee’s safety and well-being overall development and supervision of Team Leaders and Team Members, health and safety, quality, customer cost, productivity, and ergonomic issues through using the company policies and procedures and the Magna Employee’s Charter as a guideline. This position will be for a greenfield facility in Southeast Michigan.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
• Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies (Magna Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution and Employee’s Charter).
• Follows and supports and Magna’s operating principles, including:
o Magna Employee Charter – Operating under its principles by treating all team members equally, fairly and with dignity and respect.
o Abide by Division policies and procedures as described in the most current version of the Employee Handbook.
o Open Door Policy – Solves issues with two-way, open and friendly communication.
o 5S – Maintains and promotes good housekeeping by following the philosophy “Everything has a place. Everything in its place”.
o Safety First - Obey the plant’s safety rules and procedures by wearing PPE at all times and immediately addressing all safety concerns.  Promotes an environment where zero injuries are the expected standard.
o Promote MAFACT benchmarks to achieve World Class Manufacturing.
o Core values – Treat all team members equally, fairly, with dignity and respect without favoritism in accordance with company values.
o Attend and participate in Team, Department, Plant-wide and any other meetings as required.
o Conduct all activities in a professional manner and positive attitude with an emphasis on personal responsibility.
• Ensure weekly safety talks in pre-shift meetings are being conducted with employees signing safety training roster
• Routinely make visual inspections of emergency evacuations routes correcting any safety concerns immediately
• Within 24 hours of an accident/incident complete accident investigations identifying root cause and corrective action
• Ensure daily pre-shift inspections are completed, conduct unplanned inspection audits on a weekly basis and planned inspection audits once a month
• Schedule, supervise, coordinate, and direct the activities of employees to ensure that production levels and quality standards are met.  Monitor throughout day and make adjustments to support operations

Key Responsiblities (Continued)

• Establish and maintain effective communications with all other departments as well as conduct all business activities in a professional manner
• Plan and direct the utilization and use of all equipment and manpower to achieve the most effective results
• Supervise employees in accordance with the principles of the Employee Charter and the policies and procedures set out in the Division Employee Handbook
• Responsible for accurate and timely monitoring and approval of employees’ schedules through E-time.
• Immediately attend to all accidents and injuries and initiate the accident and injury investigation program, while following up to ensure procedure implementation and completion.
• Audits team member adherence to Division processes and procedures including, but not limited to SOP, ULDS, QID, QIF, TLCQQ and provides feedback and coaching where needed to ensure adherence.
• Supervise Area leaders and Team Leaders in their job performance and ensure fulfillment of policies, practices and procedures.
• Utilize interactive management principles when implementing corrective discipline procedures in dealing with employees, encourage professional development to enhance team performance, and cross train to maximize flexibility and coverage to accommodate vacations and absences.
• Provide timely coaching, counseling, and feedback to employees through one-on-one sessions, performance evaluations, and regular team meetings.
• Ensure department KPI’s-key performance indicators are current and posted.
• LPA and other required audits are completed on-time for all responsible areas
• Responsible to work with Cross Functional Departments to ensure successful implementation of engineering changes.
• Develop and facilitate on-the-job employee training -encourages training and development.
• Promote continuous improvement programs, strive to maintain and improve productivity.
• Promote good housekeeping & 5S through regular workplace inspections
• Perform other duties as required.

-Must be willing to work extended or flexible hours as required to meet external and internal customer requirements
-Must be willing to work in various locations within and outside the facility
-Must be able to pay good attention to detail
-Must possess good human relations, leadership skills, and a maturity of judgment
-Must have good organizational and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to operate and maintain all machinery and equipment in his/her assigned area

EDUCATION:  College or 2 year degree required.

OTHER: Computer skills; Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
