Role Summary

To deliver high quality, cost effective processes in all areas of manufacturing which meet customer goals for quality, cost and timing

Responsible for assisting the Engineering Department in delivering robust processes to the production floor which are refined and production capable.  Responsible for special assignments as required to support Engineering department goals and objectives in safety, cost, quality and productivity. This position is for a greenfield facility located in Southeast Michigan.

Key Responsibilities


• Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies and Employee’s Charter
• Provide direction on new product launches ensuring lean manufacturing and safe work practices are being facilitated.
• Keep program timelines as requested and monitor for slips against established goals

• Maintain an open issues matrix to a successful closure
• Ensure program is meeting budget for tooling and capital spending, manpower usage and material utilization
• Maintains high level of communication with all departments within BGM to ensure there is awareness and understanding of the requirements the program will introduce to their areas of responsibility
• Supports team members to ensure they are successful in the completion of their duties and successful closure of all issues
• Interact with production, maintenance and engineering to productionize work cells with safe and lean practices being the driving credo

• Offer assistance in product development to meet customer quality requirements

• Manage the customer to ensure any changes to product, timing or cost can be contained

• Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes

• Monitor and maintain good housekeeping

• Follow all plant safety policies and procedures

• Perform other duties as required

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Ability to work in a team environment

-Must have effective interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills (both verbal and written)

-Must have effective program management skills

-Ability to manage an open issues list effectively coming to resolution of all issues

-Ability to offer innovative solutions to manufacturing issues related to product development or enhancement

-Ability to develop good working relationships with customers and offer product direction on design concerns

-Must be able to work extended or flexible hours as needed to meet customer requirements

-Must be able to work under stressful situations

-Must be willing to travel

 

Additional Information

EDUCATION:  High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelors Degree in Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.

TECHNICAL TRAINING:  CAD and CAD Viewer programs  

OTHER:  Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.

WORK EXPERIENCE

WHAT TYPES?   Program Management and/or Product, Process or Tool Engineering in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive

HOW MUCH?  5-10 years
