Your Responsibilities

Manage the procurement process for materials, goods, supplies and services, focusing on continuity of supply and continuous improvement for the division
Work very closely with production, R&D, Product Development, Quality and the Materials Group to ensure company needs are reflected in the contracts and products sourced as well as ongoing supplier relations
Work very closely with Finance and Operations to ensure that purchase orders and agreements are incorporated into Standard Costing, Bill of Material process
Responsible for developing and managing the cost reduction programs with our supply base
Develop and manage purchasing and contract management instruction, policies and procedures
Preparation of reports regarding supply base conditions and costs
Manage and maintain internal work instructions for purchasing cycles and purchase order systems input and maintenance.  Includes adherence by the department to comply with financial audits (SOX) and approval policies pertaining to the purchasing of goods
Manage the day to day Purchasing function at Magna Electric Vehicle Structures
Lead and manage all aspects of supply chain from RFQ to receipt of goods
Responsible for developing all of the procedures and processes involved within the purchasing cycle and ensuring this cycle is more efficient 
Responsible for ensuring purchasing plans are developed and executed to meet the company’s business plan
Work in compliance with and support company policies, procedures, work instructions and programs relating to health/safety and environment
Provide support and resources in a timely manner to address health and safety or environmental concerns or hazards that require corrective action
Have clear goals communicated to for health/safety and environmental protection
Review accident/incident investigation reports to ensure that corrective actions have been completed
Conduct regular audits of work area(s) to ensure no safety hazards or environmental issues exist
Administer appropriate corrective action for substandard health and safety or environmental performance
Inform appropriate individuals of any changes or modifications made to a particular job or process
Participate in the facility’s health and safety committee as required
Actively participate in or support respective associates in any required health/safety or environmental trainings or meetings which have been scheduled
Lead by example in supporting health/safety and environmental policies, procedures and programs
Provide and communicate to supervisors and cell leads clear goals for health/safety and environment

About the Role

Purchases supplies and production materials. Selects and manages all supplies in supply base.  Provides coordination and technical support.

Knowledge in Cost Break Down analysis
Develop Savings and Cost reduction ideas for Direct and Indirect Materials.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Some of the physical demands of this position include sitting for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down staircases, occasional lifting, and occasional stooping and bending.

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED:
Some of the equipment and tools used are computer, telephone, fax machine, copier/printer, and a projector. 

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 to 10 years of buying/purchasing Manager experience
University or Business Degree and/or Community College graduate or equivalency in education and experience would be considered a strong asset
Supervisory or Managerial experience (2-5 years) would be considered a strong asset
Previous experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment
C.P.P. (Certified Professional Purchaser) designation is an asset
Automotive experience is required
Excel, Word and computer working knowledge required
Inventory management, financial and sales & marketing understanding an asset
