About the Role
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Planner works independently and confers regularly with division, corporate, contractors, customer, and supplier staff specialists.
Your Responsibilities
Responsible for the scheduling, tracking and evaluating the preventative maintenance plans for plant equipment
Responsible for generating maintenance plans based on supplier recommendations and industry best practices
Responsible for generating maintenance work orders based on supplier recommendations
Ensures that spare parts are available in inventory for emergency breakdowns, and preventative maintenance procedures.
Responsible for coordinating with maintenance team leads, supervisors and manager to ensure preventative maintenance, work orders and other departmental KPIs are being met.
Responsible for contributing to organizations continuous improvement ( Mafact) goals / milestones.
Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and MST rules and regulations.
Demonstrate a maturity of judgement, leadership skills, attention to detail and exceptional organizational, listening, communication and presentation skills in all aspects of the job function.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:
Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
Perform equipment performance analysis and make necessary recommendations.
Quarterly reviews of required PM’s in work area (validate effectiveness).
Monitor and participate in ensuring all Key Performance Indicators (Safety, Quality and Productivity) are being achieved and if not assist in developing an action plan to ensure success.
Suggest and implement PM improvements (frequency, content, etc.) based on collected data.
Distributing, Scheduling and Tracking of weekly/monthly PM requirements.
Monitor PM completeness and schedule/reschedule accordingly to achieve 100% completion.
Maintain PM system – suggest and implement changes as required.
Work with Production scheduling to schedule downtime to complete PM’s on equipment through the standard week and then on weekends.
Schedule and assist with contractors for daily and weekend PM’s and projects.
Utilize ERP/CMMS system to schedule and track PM’s and work orders.
Work with all groups to effectively plan and schedule downtime through the standard work week to complete work orders through the week.
Attend and participate at Project review meetings to implement and schedule changes.
Co-ordinate plans with contractors and suppliers and support groups for projects including pricing, timelines, layouts and justifications.
Assist in long term planning of jobs and projects.
Develop and track a process for shutdown tasks/projects.
Track downtime issues and prepare supporting documentation to support suggested tasks, projects, and PM’s.
Research and obtain quotes for new, replacement parts and spares.
Review high usage components and research solutions to implement reductions.
Verify and ensure proper stock and quantities are setup to support equipment.
Ensure required spares are setup for new projects or equipment before the project or equipment is put into production.
Quarterly review of inventory to suggest and implement reductions based on usage/lack of movement. Reduce inventory by removing the product, having it on consignment at the plant, or in stock at a local supplier.
Develop and maintain a library of supporting equipment documentation for the area/department.
Update and maintain electrical and mechanical drawing database as required.
Support Environmental reviews and audits as required.
Support with insurance audits as required.
Suggest and implement changes to build standards as required.
Perform other duties as designated.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to interact effectively with other team members.
Able to appreciate and maintain proper level of confidentiality, using discretion and tact.
Ability to prepare, read, write, and interpret written reports, procedures, instructions and guidelines
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
May be exposed to elements such as temperature and noise during time spent in the plant. Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to- lifting equipment (up to 40 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Ability to work flexible hours in a fast-paced environment in order to meet customer requirements. Shift changes and weekend overtime may be required periodically in order to properly balance the skill sets of each shift in order to protect the customer demand. Travel and overtime may be required to meet customer expectations.
EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED:
Some of the equipment and tools used are computer, telephone, fax machine, copier/printer, and a projector.
KNOWLEDGE:
Computer skills in Microsoft office suite.
Familiar with ERP systems and CMMS planning software.
Advanced math skills with the ability to apply to cost and analyze data.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED and at least a 2-year degree from an accredited technical college or post-secondary school.
Preferred 4-year degree from an accredited technical college or university.

A valid Driver’s License is required for day travel with the occasional overnight stay
A valid passport or equivalent which allows the Maintenance Planner to travel to attend customer and potential integrator/supplier meetings is necessary.
