Jr. Controls Technician

Role Summary

To repair and troubleshoot equipment and machinery efficiently, safely and in accordance with the plant standards, design electrical circuits and PLC programs for machines, work on projects and improvements.

Key Responsibilities

•    Assists with project implementation including timing, concept, feasibility, design, specifications, construction and commissioning
•    Maintains and upgrades PLC software:  assist in training of staff on electronic equipment
•    Analyses, records and charts documentation required for maintenance records and projects
•    Services, maintains, repairs, installs and tests new or existing equipment and verifies conformance to specifications
•    Complete repairs, modifications and installations as required and directed
•    Troubleshooting of process problems and complete quality improvements as required to maintain part standards of quality
•    Department support for testing, repairing and calibrating electric or electronic components
•    Plant support in troubleshooting / repairs and systems improvements (optimization)
•    Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies Deco Automotive
•    Carries out preventative maintenance procedures as laid out by the manufacturer’s specifications
•    Able to work extended or flexible hours/shifts as required
•    Prepares drawings, materials specifications to requisition as required by vendors or other departments
•    Able to understand and CSA-462 and/or NEMA 70-E
•    Has good interpersonal and communication skills and is results oriented

Key Qualifications/Requirements

•    Completion of a technical diploma program (2 years+) from an accredited college or university in the area of industrial/electrical controls
•    Able to work in various locations within and outside the plant
•    Proven of record of PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens) or CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens)
•    Experience with electronic control systems in a robotic welding or laser field or on CNC machine tools
•    Physically capable of performing the essential duties of the position
