Manufacturing Quality Engineer

Role Summary

Provides engineering liaison between the Manufacturing/Assembly plant and Product Engineering/Customer.  Ensures product is made to design intent, monitor critical areas for FMVSS compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily interface with the customer (Ford KCAP) including but not limited to the following; (communication of quality concerns to the Magna management team, reporting to the customer for all quality concerns including completion of corrective action “8D”, coordinate all containment activities for quality spills at the customer, attend on site meetings at the customers’ location, ensure the proper work instructions exist and provide the necessary training to the hourly KCAP representatives, collect and provide daily/monthly FCPA data to the Quality Manager, ensure KCAP returns have proper disposition and are returned to Magna on a daily basis, maintain KCAP return log and QOS charts.)
  • Ensures product is built to design intent.
  • Resolves manufacturing/assembly problems in the field.
  • Document all test results and maintain detailed records. 
Key Qualifications/Requirements

3-6 years of diversified engineering experience, BSME preferred or recognized equivalent.

Additional Information
  • Assist engineering in problem solving by conducting special testing on engineering samples. 
  • Assist in design validation by conducting tests on prototype level components and seats complete.
  • Work instructions are maintained and developed as required for testing.
  • Calibration and verification on gages and fixtures including Gage R & R’s as required.
  • Maintain adequate lab diagnostic and measurement equipment.
  • Lab layout and housekeeping.
  • Part dimensional layouts as required.
  • Evaluate/Troubleshoot KCAP returns.
  • Quality Alerts
  • Maintain QOS data/chart for Torque Capability
  • Torque Activities – Verification/Programming/Calibration of Torque Equipment
  • Troubleshoot and implement short term production solutions to any hardware related problems.
