Role Summary


The Manager for Software Core Development is responsible for managing SW Core Development activities within innovation projects according to defined targets. This contains full reusable SW content of new E/E Architecture Vehicles. 

Key Responsibilities


  • Responsible to manage the full development cycle of Reuse/Core Software for advanced E/E architecture programs.  
  • Oversee all development steps from Requirements, Architecture, Design, Implementation, Integration, Verification to Calibration  
  • Managing the SW Development Teams 
  • Lead the planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting of all software related activities within the project scope 
  • Interfacing with customer application projects to ensure readiness of Software components 
  • Establish required collaboration processes and implementation in appropriate tools 
  • Continues monitoring of targets and implementation of corrective actions in case of deviation  
  • Collaboration with System and Hardware Development to achieve Product Requirements 
  • Develop SW according to automotive standards and based on Magna process definitions 

Key Qualifications/Requirements


  • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering / Software Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent 
  • 3+ years’ relevant experience regarding the Responsibility / Activities (listed above) for automotive software development projects (mandatory) 
  • Knowledge of product development engineering practices in automotive field 
  • Involvement in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle 
  • Knowledge of embedded software development in C/C++ for 16 bit and 32 bit micro-controllers including application for micro-controllers such as Freescale, PPC, ARM core, TI DSP, Microchip, Renesas and Infineon MCU’s 
  • Knowledge of model-based development and the associated toolchains (e.g. Matlab/Simulink) 
  • Knowledge of POSIX OS (e.g., Linux) and virtualization/hypervisor technologies.
