Position Overview

 

Responsible for leading and coordinating project management activities with Corporate R&D. Coordinates and oversees the interfaces between the engineering disciplines and corporate functions like Sales and Marketing, Legal, Purchasing. The program manager(s) are an integral part of developing a global Magna technology road map for the Car of the Future and Factory of the Future in alignment with the Magna Product Groups. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • The program manager is responsible for consolidating critical project information: scope, budget, timing, quality, risk assessment, and open issues list.  
  • The program manager's primary responsibility is to ensure the projects are executed within scope, on time, and on-budget and that the deliverables meet the expected quality level. 
  • The program manager works with engineering and all other support functions to resolve the issues and conflicts that emerge during the planning and execution phase of the projects.  
  • Leads the process of preliminary business cases: estimates volumes, cost structure and work with the divisions to determine capital, tooling and labor requirements. 
  • Supports, along with the engineering group, the Project Prioritization for the Car of the Future and Factory of the Future by collecting crucial information to allow the management team to understand and evaluate the impact of such projects.  
  • Project managers are responsible for scheduling meetings, setting agendas, running meetings, taking minutes, providing templates for content with gate deliverables, consolidating slides into one presentation, reviewing and suggesting changes to slide content, and asking "right questions" linked to the Car of the Future and Factory of the Future. 
  • Provide inputs to management on how to improve the corporate processes, including but not limited to, IDP process, Steering Meetings, Gate Reviews and Project Prioritization. 
  • Create the relevant material for gate reviews, quarterly reviews, and steering process by tracking projects and identifying high-risk areas by evaluating reported timing and financial status. Once the high-risk area is identified, the project manager coordinates the root-cause analysis with the team and creates corrective actions. 
  • Develop a working environment aimed at partnering with the other interface disciplines.  
  • Support the vehicle domains and Industry 4.0 building blocks with critical technologies in the targeted building block areas. 
  • Supports requirements management, definition, evaluation, and implementation of Corporate Engineering Tools in compliance with professional and economic aspects. 
  • Supports the team with the link to the appropriate interfaces by finding the proper contact for help required. Introduce the topic of support and follow up to review interaction status. 
  • Support the Corporate R&D in the development of the collaboration Principles by monitoring with the management team if updates are required. Provide support through the change request, change agreement, and change release process. 
  • Provide feedback, support, and guidance to the team. Actively participate in technical collaborations and partnerships with universities, startup companies, and research labs to fill the innovation pipeline for targeted building bock areas 
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Magna's existing products portfolio and manufacturing processes for the Car of the Future and Factory of the Future 
  • Maintain awareness of Magna Corporate and group technology needs, using these to search for technologies of relevance. 
  • Provide clear and effective communication to all staff members within the group, department, and management. 
  • Develop strategic relationships with key technical representatives at the OEMs. 
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks. 
  • Continuously adhere to and apply the Magna Employee's Charter to all employees. 
  • Develop and support One Team – One voice culture across all areas of Corporate R&D. 

Qualifications

 

  • Recommended minimum 5 years at an OEM or major tier one supplier 
  • Recommended minimum 3 - 5 years in program management 
  • Expert on value proposition design, business model generation and testing business ideas 
  • Deep knowledge in one of the following vehicle domains: EE Architecture, SW Development, Body Domain systems, Manufacturing. 

Education / Experience

 

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Engineering or another related Science field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or Chemistry) with exceptional qualifications and experience in research or development (product, material, process) 

Special Knowledge / Skills

 

  • Above average knowledge of vehicle systems and interactions, vehicle development cycle; manufacturing systems, processes and operations and interactions linked to the Car of the Future and Factory of the Future. 
  • Ability to apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts and contribute to developing solutions to complex problems that require innovation and ingenuity. 
  • Excellent people and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to estimate engineering and part costs 
  • Strong spoken and written English language skills. Additional languages skills desired. 
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Process, Assembly methods and materials used in automotive products 
  • Understanding of automotive other industry/customer related standards 
  • Excellent presentational skills and interpersonal skills 
  • Effective problem-solving skills and decision-making skills

Additional Information

The annual remuneration package for this position is a minimum of EUR 63.000,- with corresponding qualification. We offer attractive benefits (e.g., employee profit participation program) and a salary which is in line with market conditions depending on your skills and experience.
