Performs preventive and general maintenance on plant and production equipment on a routine and emergency basis.

Role Summary

Performs preventive and general maintenance on plant and production equipment on a routine and emergency basis. Performs preventive and general maintenance on plant and production equipment on a routine and emergency basis.

Key Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and Repair all electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic problems on machines and auxiliary equipment
Maintains a clean and safe work environment
Diagnose malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
Preforms Safety Audits on regular basis
Perform LOTO on all equipment.
Maintains Work Orders and PM records on all equipment as assigned.
Directs contractors and insures Safety procedures and adhered too.
Orders required parts for projects and completes Requisitions and keeps supply of spare parts in MRO area.
Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders.
Adhere to all environmental policies and procedures
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
Maintains Downtime logs and change logs
Participates in continuous improvement activities.
Participates in Health and Safety and Ergonomics committees.
Understand your responsibility for health and safety in the workplace. Cooperate with OSHA MIOSHA inspectors. Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. Follow all safety rules. Report unsafe conditions immediately. Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses, property damage immediately. Will not remove or make ineffective any protective device such as a guard, light curtain, etc. Will not use or operate any machine or equipment that the employee is not trained to operate. Will not use or operate any machine or equipment in a manner that may endanger any employee including themselves.
Understand your responsibility for health and safety in the workplace. Provide an employee with written instructions of the measures and procedures required to protect the employee. Advise the employee of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the employee of which the supervisor is aware. Understand your responsibility for visitors and general public health and safety in the workplace. Cooperate with OSHA inspectors. Do not allow discrimination against employees who properly exercise their right under OSHA. Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set a good example. Ensure that employees wear the appropriate protective devices. Know the safety rules at Magna -- Greer.
Understand your responsibility to the environmental programs, including ISO14001. Understand the importance of conformance with all environmental procedures of the environmental management system, including emergency response.  Understand the EMS consequences, actual or potential, of their work activities and/or their behaviors from specified work instructions.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  1. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, update, and work on all equipment in designated area of responsibility. 
  2. Must have current knowledge of electrical codes and electricity and be able to apply it to the job. 
  3. Demonstrated good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills to communicate with and work in a team environment. 
  4. Machine rebuilding and mechanical knowledge including electrical required. 
  5. Knowledge of S.C. OSHA standards and various industrial building/construction codes.
  6. Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, PLCs and PCs.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  2. Three to Five years of manufacturing maintenance experience required (Automotive Tier 1 experience preferred).
  3. Mechanical or Electrical technician certificate preferred.
