Packaging Engineer

Role Summary

The successful Packaging Engineer will be responsible to drive the conceptualization, design, prototype and validation of both internal WIP, service order and customer finished goods packaging (including backup packaging).  Develop, validate and implement some component packaging (both returnable and expendable) and sequencing.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the conceptualization and design process
- Execute prototype build (pull-ahead production)
- Validation testing (internal or external)
- Quotation of packaging for new business opportunities
- Develop ad-hoc (special means) packaging for discrete events
- Fleet size analysis and calculation
- Polycon lead in customer approval process
- Direct liaison and contact with customer service order organization
- Problem solver when exceptions arise due to packaging unavailability, logistics issues or part changes
- Ensure all Polycon and customer systems are set up accurately and reflect approved packaging
- Capital project manager for all Polycon purchased packaging, including forecasting and business plan prep
- Other duties as assigned


 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

- University degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering is required
- Candidate should either have their P.Eng. designation or working toward one
- Minimum two years’ experience in packaging or a related field an asset
- Time management skills and ability to manage a heavy workload
- Advanced computer skills including 3D modelling capability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Leadership skills and ability to motivate a team
- Problem solving skills to deal with issues as they arise
