About the Role

Would you like to join a dynamic IT team and make a significant impact? Perfect! We are currently looking for a talented team member as IT Application Engineer MES to coordinate and implement software releases, ensure smooth operations as well as continuous process optimization. As the go-to person for our MES (Manufacturing Execution System) team, you will troubleshoot interfaces, maintain documentation, and provide valuable support.

Your Responsibilities

  • Ensure stable operations through active system monitoring and proactive prevention and problem solving.
  • Understand the processes implemented in the production system and actively support and advise business in optimization efforts.
  • End-to-end understanding and troubleshooting all interfaces between the MES application and other IT applications (e.g., SAP, JDE, TRACE)
  • Participation in creating and maintaining all relevant IT documentation.
  • Requirements engineering and local IT project management for application changes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant IT guidelines and the availability of relevant audit artifacts in collaboration with the IT manager.
  • Generate reports from the production system.
  • Project management of MES related processes implementations, solutions, and functions.
  • Gather and analyze business requirements, propose technical concepts, and validate technical feasibility.
  • Participate in functional test / integration test / GoLive preparations of MES services, processes, and functions.
  • Support training activities with functional Keyusers.
  • Support and enhance the MES template functions in a continuous improvement process.
  • Support implementation of dashboards, reports, and analytic solutions.
  • Act as a technical consultant to the plants and cross functional departments on MES topics.
  • Support the implementation of upgrades, patches, and maintenance efforts on the template.
  • Attend and participate in internal and external meetings and user groups where appropriate.
  • Ensure Manufacturing systems reliability through redundancy, backups, and security; Coordinate contractors for work/service required by external sources.
  • Assist with IT infrastructure related issues acting as “on site hands” to assist global teams remotely.
  • Support leading facility through Industry 4.0 initiative. 
  • Diagram manufacturing lines and demonstrate connections to external applications and services. 
  • Create manufacturing documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to architect programs that are simple to test, well documented and versatile.
  • Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standard.
     

Who we are looking for

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science or the equivalent in experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in related field (preferably in Automotive Manufacturing industry).
  • Experience with MES standards & Templates preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with shop floor solutions (PLC’s; databases, supervisor PC’s. e.g., Solidat).
  • Basic understanding of IT Infrastructure (Server, Network).
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, problem solving & interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel to other manufacturing sites.
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience in global teamwork and different cultures.
  • Experience in the deployment and operation of complex and highly integrated IT applications
  • Experience with IT landscapes in industrial manufacturing
  • Broad foundational knowledge of networking, authentication, authorization, interfaces, and integration
  • Profound knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server, TSQL)
  • Experience in working with Microsoft technologies (Microsoft Server, .NET, C#)
  • Experience in creating dashboards and reports with Microsoft Power BI

Your preferred qualifications

  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, industrial power distribution, and PLC controlled equipment
  • Experience with VB, Python, and Java is beneficial
  • Experience with Fanuc and Epson Robots is beneficial
  • Experience with Cognex Vision Systems is beneficial
  • Experience with Flexware Ignition MES is beneficial
