Role Summary

This position is for a new greenfield facility that will be located in the Greater Memphis, Tennessee area. The Program Buyer assists in developing, maintaining, and investigating potential new suppliers as well as current suppliers for new and existing programs. The Program Buyer I will create material requisitions, purchase orders, requests for quotation, and assist/work with various departments within the division to ensure all production requirements are met. The Program Buyer I assists in the process of sourcing raw material, components, and services from suppliers based on best overall value.

Key Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strives to achieve Divisional Goals and Objectives year over year
Assists Program Buyer(s) with the following:
Manage customer steel resale programs, contract management, and dispute resolution with assistance from Program Buyer and Purchasing Manager
Maintain Quarterly pricing updates for CRU pricing material
Maintain the ERP system to be accurate at all times relating to parts, suppliers, and pricing
Expedite/follow up on requirements as necessary
Monitor supplier performance for delivery, quality, and commercial on a monthly basis
Actively participate in review meetings to ensure the successful launch of new products, processes, and tools as required
Coordination of production purchasing files
Issuing production-related purchase orders
Maintain supplier capacity information and update quarterly
Contribute to the annual continuous improvement activity within purchasing and the supply base
Identify, quote, and source steel either through customer resale programs or directly for all stampings needed in the facility
Expedite/follow up on requirements as necessary
Maintain document control of purchase orders to ensure audit trails are in place and meet financial and procedural requirements
Resolve variances between purchase orders and invoices when Finance requires assistance
Provide support and backup for MRO team as needed
Cooperate with Corporate Purchasing in supplying requested information, participating in meetings, conference calls, etc.
Understand, utilize, and submit suggestions for improvement to departmental procedures
Establish and maintain a high level of communication and effective working relationships with                                                 suppliers and peers                                                                                                          
Complies with, supports, and models Magna Structures Tennessee LLC operational procedures/policies, 
Employee Handbook, and Magna’s Employee’s Charter, Corporate Constitution, and Operational Principles
Complies with relevant Quality and Environmental programs (e.g. TS16949, ISO14001)
Complies with all Health and Safety programs in accordance with MIOSHA; follows and ensures Company procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed
Conducts self in a professional manner
Keeps work area clean and tidy
Other duties as required
 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION: 
•    College/University degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Business discipline and/or equivalent work experience

 WORK EXPERIENCE:
•    6 months of experience in Purchasing/Materials Management related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
•    A valid Driver's License is required for day travel. A valid passport that allows the Junior Buyer to travel to attend customer and potential integrator/supplier meetings may be necessary. Some day travel and overtime may be required to meet customer expectations. The Junior Buyer works in an office environment but may be exposed to some elements such as temperature and noise during time spent in the plant.
