The Production Engineer (PE) is the main contact for customer representatives in respect to engineering issues. The PE supports Production departments to support all issues arising as necessary as directed by the Engineering Manager. The PE leads the management and implementation of all engineering changes as defined in the current departmental engineering change procedure. The PE is responsible to insure engineering changes meet the agreed targets regarding costs, timing, and quality, thru put, capability, efficiency, internal and external approval. The PE is in daily contact with responsible quality engineer and supports all on going quality issues as required. The PE monitors the customers pulse and highlights and escalates issues as required to the Sr. Engineering Manager.
- Tasks may include but will not be limited to:
- Lead engineering changes as per Drive procedure – on time / within budget / within procedure / proper documentation that can easily pass any required audits – total coordination.
- APQP and FMEA lead for engineering changes.
- Ensure feasibility studies and team review is completed as per engineering procedures.
- Weekly engineering change meeting attendance.
- P.O. flow monitoring. Escalation as required.
Communication Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor Degree in a technical related discipline or 10 years related automotive experience with sound understanding of BIW build fit & function. Must have an understanding in the following areas, die / die process, assembly tooling, welding & sealer applications, CMM & datum alignment, data processing & reporting, customer tolerancing concepts.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Project, Word.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
