Role Summary

Interprets and initiates various elements of the Magna quality system.  Performs product testing and audits products and processes to ensure system compliance with customer requirements/specifications.  Leads in-house and/or on-site customer product sorts and re-inspections to resolve quality issues which may require lifting of 40 lbs. or more.  Issues, maintains and implements activities corrective/preventative action.  Provides input on quality problems and recommends process changes if necessary.  Assists in and/or leads customer driven root cause analysis processes (i.e. MDCAR & 8D).  Visually inspects customer part returns and determines disposition on any non-conforming product. Performs fixture reliability/repeatability analysis to test accuracy of measurement.  Performs other duties as necessary including providing product launch support to Quality Engineers.  Properly handles and disposes of any hazardous waste material.  May set visual standards, analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data and initiate changes in control plans, IPICS, charts.  May represent operations quality when conveying information to customers and establishing control limits.  May develop/analyzes product testing procedures and set up testing.  Performs quality systems audits in support of Company and Customer standards.

Key Responsibilities

1.    Performs product testing using a variety of methods.  Audits products and processes to ensure system compliance with customer requirements/specifications.  Uses and understands SPC applications. 
    
2.    Leads in-house and/or on-site customer product sorts and re-inspections to resolve quality issues which may require lifting of 40 lbs. or more.  Trains operators on off-line part inspection to help contain product quality problems.
    
3.    Issues, maintains and implements activities relating to corrective and/or preventative action.  Provides input on causes or reasons for quality problems and recommends process changes if necessary.  Assists in and/or leads customer driven root cause analysis processes (i.e. MDCAR & 8D).  
    
4.    Visually inspects customer part returns and determines disposition on any non-conforming product (i.e. Company or customer origin).  Gathers and summarizes data for monthly quality reports. 
    
5.    Performs fixture reliability/repeatability analysis to test accuracy of measurement.
    
6.    Performs other duties as necessary including providing product launch support to Quality Engineers.  Properly handles and disposes of any hazardous waste material in respective area. 
 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

1.    High School diploma; or equivalent.  Basic math/reading, SPC, and fixture measurement skills including decimals and fractions.  
    
2.    Ability to lift 40 pounds or more.
    
3.    Good written/verbal communication and interaction skills to communicate with internal and external contacts. 
    
4.    Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision.
     
5.    Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot processes and equipment.
    
6.    Basic knowledge of standard work, in-process control sheets, and quality standards related to job.

Level II (in addition to above requirements)

1.    Associates degree and/or Quality Technician certification by the American Society of Quality; or equivalent.
    
2.    Significant related work experience including blueprint reading skills. 
    
3.    Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, update, and work on all processes/testing/customers in designated area of responsibility.
    
4.    Demonstrated strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills to communicate with internal and external contacts and work in a team environment.  Must be able to lead, train, and support other staff.
    
5.    Strong project management and problem-solving skills to work on complex projects independently under minimal work direction.
    
6.    Advanced SPC skills to analyze, draw conclusions, and recommend course of action.
