POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Provides technical support by constructing experimental and prototype assemblies.  Works with printed circuit board assembly, plastic, zinc housings and harness assemblies.  Sets up and performs tests on assemblies and sub-assemblies in various stages of the assembly process.  Diagnoses/troubleshoots test equipment, screw driving equipment, dispensing equipment, and various general assembly operations.  Assists Manufacturing Engineers with the design/development of assembly process for mechanical components.  Using process flow tools software (Visio & Excel), documents process steps and details out critical process settings.  Fabricates enclosures, mechanical hardware and test equipment to aid in the design/development of mechanical assemblies.  Participates in continuous improvement processes.  Modifies, adapts, and interfaces to personal computers and similar systems for use in defined development of assembly processes.   Performs other duties as necessary.

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

 

  1. Associates Degree highly preferred and/or related work experience with training in problem solving & DOE principles, processes and systems; or equivalent. 
  2. High degree of comprehension and judgment for effective problem solving.  Demonstrated ability to calculate and analyze data, generate reports, present information,
  3. Demonstrated ability to use tools, equipment, and computer systems related to job (i.e. Computer Aided Design, strain gage software, torque driving software etc.).NOTE:  computer test and/or practical skills test may be a part of the interview process.
  4. Solid interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills in order to communicate with internal and external contacts and work in a team environment.
  5. Ability to conceptualize, coordinate, integrate internal data and clearly articulate concepts, ideas and other issues related to mechanical assembly documentation. 
  6. Demonstrated strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  7. Ability to work varying shift hours when needed.

  • Using process flow tools software (Microsoft Word & Excel), documents process steps and details out critical process settings. 
  • Fabricates enclosures, mechanical hardware and test equipment to aid in the design/development of mechanical assemblies. 
  • Participates in continuous improvement processes. 
  • Performs other duties as necessary.

Role Summary

Assists Manufacturing Engineers with the design/development of assembly process for electrical components, final assembly and testing. Works with all aspects of the development, implementation and verification of tooling and equipment required to manufacture production. Identifies the spare parts and tools required to maintain the equipment, and updates and maintains the spare parts listing to the latest product release drawings. Identify bottleneck areas, implement cycle time reductions, develop process improvements opportunities, and verify and document the effect of these actions.  Performs other duties as necessary (support and training of Operators and Maintenance personnel in the proper operation and function of the production equipment).

Requirements

  1. Associate’s Degree or no less than 3 years’ hands on technical experience in the Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering field.
  2. 3 - 5 years of on the job work experience with advanced problem solving skills, root cause analysis, 8D, lean project(s), creation of work instructions, etc. or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Demonstrated ability to use tools, equipment, and computer systems related to the job (Computer Aided Design (CAD), strain gauge software, torque driver software).  Understanding processes and programs relating to production.
  4. Demonstrated aptitude for troubleshooting mechanical motions for automated and semi-automated assembly tooling. 
  5. Proficient electrical skills knowledge
  6. Ability to conceptualize, coordinate and integrate internal data and clearly articulate concepts, ideas and other issues related to production & assembly documentation. 
  7. Highly skilled in the ability to calculate and analyze data, generate reports and present information using Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word.
  8. Proficient in Outlook, or similar emailing system, with solid interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  9. Effective and professional communication with internal and external contacts.
  10. Must have a good attendance record.
  11. Ability to work varying shift hours when needed.
  12. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or actively pursuing degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Field.
  • Experience working with basic robot motion controls.
