JOB SUMMARY
The Production Team Lead is a self-directed leader responsible for supporting and prioritizing the activities of their assigned manufacturing team, including temporary employees, to ensure production meets customer expectations in cost, quality, and delivery. They maintain a safe work environment and actively participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving efforts aligned with the MAFACT Production System. The Team Lead is accountable to the Shift Supervisor for achieving production targets, managing labor efficiency, and maintaining high operational standards within their designated cells.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
· Safety/5S - Corrects or commends health and safety performance in work area and takes immediate action to correct unsafe conditions or actions. Ensures employees appropriate training for recognizing hazards associated and specific to their job. Completes safety inspections on a routine basis and ensures compliance with all Health and Safety as well as ISO14001 policies and procedures.
· Quality - Makes quality-controlled decisions based on established quality standards and checks. Identifies opportunities for common mistake proofing. Understands quality control plans. Accurately tracks and measures defects. Ensures staff is following and maintaining standardized work.
· Communication - Effectively communicates performance in all aspects of the business including, but not limited to Policy, Safety, Quality, Productivity and General Communications, during pre-shift meetings and team meetings.
· Staffing - Responsible for training of personnel to meet “takt time”, off-line training and relief schedules.
· HR/Training - Development of employees using Training Within Industry and training matrices. Presents new information to large and small groups. Administers and applies company policy consistently and fairly. Has the ability to discipline employees when in need. Responsible for maintaining and developing team morale.
· Improvements - Leads teams through problem solving process, documents issues and identifies solutions that prevent recurrence. Supports Continuous Improvement team in the performance and completion of time studies of operation while developing and performing, with the team, work sequence, standardized work and takt time charting.
· Materials - Leads on-line schedule attainment. Knowledge and usage of MES related systems and implements visual controls as required.
· Upward Communications - Tracks and evaluates performance measurable(s) against safety, quality, cost and delivery goals. Executes appropriate action plans to meet or exceed goals. Alerts Supervisor(s) of significant variations of goals and expectations to prevent surprises through corrective action, desired performance and proactive communication.
· General - Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
· EHS - Performs all work in compliance with Magna and Magna Engineered Glass Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures as well as all federal, State and local laws; promptly report any hazardous condition or workplace injury to immediate supervisor or EHS designate.
ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and Michigan Occupational Safety & Health Administration (MiOSHA) regulations.
· Proactively identify and correct unsafe acts or hazardous conditions, ensuring all safety and non-safety plant rules and regulations are followed.
· Ensure adherence to established quality, safety, and housekeeping standards, as well as plant-specific health and environmental policies.
· Respond immediately to hazards, defects, incidents, or non-compliance issues, and ensure timely resolution.
· Train associates in the safe use of equipment, materials, and chemicals, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
· Ensure routine inspections are completed and documented in a timely manner.
· Act as a safety role model, driving a culture of safety awareness throughout the plant.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Strong communication skills to effectively interact with internal contacts at all organizational levels, representing the company in a professional manner.
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills to ensure the successful performance of job duties.
· Demonstrated understanding of business operations and the ability to connect work priorities with operational procedures to resolve issues.
· Proven leadership and development skills, with experience in guiding and supporting team members toward achieving short-term departmental goals.
· Ability to motivate and inspire teams to meet moderate-term objectives and performance standards.
· English proficiency required, with strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Standing and walking 90%; sitting 10%
· Production floor environment, that is loud (hearing protection strongly recommended)
· Willing and able to work 7 days per week, 10-12 hour shifts, during periods of peak customer demand.
· Available to work any shift based on business needs.
