Role Summary

Responsible for the planning, supervision/staffing, and implementation of all phases of maintenance.  Keeps all production equipment well-maintained and able to meet planning production schedules and goals.  Maintains a world class appearance to facilities and grounds.  Facilitates the work of departmental personnel by providing leadership and training, enabling them to meet business group, departmental, and personal goals.  Is involved in all technical aspects of the design, installation, and operation of manufacturing equipment used in a complex manufacturing facility.  Implements and maintains systems within the department that provide efficient operating procedures and data collection for decision making, equipment and project justification and departmental performance measurements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures all Equipment is maintained for the facility and is in prime working condition. Takes immediate action to correct any unsafe condition that may arise. Schedules necessary maintenance and repairs so as to least interfere with manufacturing priorities and schedules.
  • Reviews preliminary design of all new equipment for potential problems, ease of maintenance, and safety. Implements all major modification to production equipment including
  • Plant Maintenance – Supervises the maintenance and repair of all buildings and grounds.Responsible for the maintenance of manufacturing and building support systems, i.e., compressed air, process water, HVAC, etc…Supervises janitorial and custodial work.
  • Selects and manages various outside contractors such as custodians, snow removal services, trash removal services, and grounds and landscape maintenance.
  • Coordinates spill cleanup and use of external contractors as needed.
  • Ensures that all critical production and facilities equipment is protected with necessary spare parts.
  • Works with purchasing to evaluate various programs such as vendor stocking, quality control improvement, electronic ordering and any other programs that may reduce our costs.
  • Managerial- responsible for developing the skill level of the maintenance team; assures that all team members are trained, directed, and motivated to meet business group and company needs  Manages skilled trades and apprentice activities. 

 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • BS or BA degree in business or engineering.  Advanced training or experience in mechanical, electrical, or plant engineering highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in providing technical leadership and direction for facility improvement that involves extensive use of HVAC, gas handling, DI, robotics, waste water treatment and paint systems.
  • Six to eight years experience managing maintenance responsibilities in a large manufacturing operation.
  • Demonstrated team development and leadership skills.  Experience and demonstrated capability in dealing with a variety of technically challenging manufacturing processes and complex facility support systems.
