Role Summary

Supports manufacturing by collecting and analyzing data, documenting results, identifying and developing procedural changes using engineering techniques. Analyzes various product structures and processes in order to eliminate inefficiencies and reduce manufacturing costs.  Performs Design of Experiment (DOE) analysis to determine optimum operating parameters to achieve the most efficient cell. Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and drive implementation of improvement initiatives.
  2. Collect and analyze data on coating defects (both defect count and microscopic identification).
  3. Characterize types of contamination and defects that affect the finish of the mirrors,
  4. Use statistical process control for troubleshooting.
  5. Establish and maintain a coating defect referencing library.
  6. Establish proper work instructions that will target to the prevention of contamination with proper equipment PM’s
  7. Identify equipment upgrades necessary to minimize contamination or other defects and/or improve safety.
  8. Map and analyze processes and identify ways to reduce waste, improve workflow, and otherwise improve efficiency.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Process Improvement/Engineering experience preferred.
  2. Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
  3. Statistical Analysis experience preferred.
  4. Demonstrated strong communication skills in order to communicate with other functional areas both internally and externally for successful completion of projects.
  5. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to influence decisions that affect assigned projects.
