POSITION SUMMARY:

Ensures product and process quality and efficiency through appropriate inspection and continuous improvement problem solving activities. Maintains procedures and standards to provide compliance with quality standards for assigned area. Maintains an optimum level of order and cleanliness in work areas. Employee may be required to perform other miscellaneous duties at the request of the Materials Supervisor/Materials Manager. Advise Supervisor/Manager of situations that may pose a significant risk to the objectives of meeting the production demands. Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to product, process & systems. Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, or system. Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through appropriate channels.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent. 
  2. 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Working knowledge of how to operate forklift, conveyance cart, hand tools, production machinery
  4. Must possess or be able to obtain a chauffer’s license and pass DOT physical in order to drive the truck.
  5. Vision or corrected vision that meets State of Michigan driver's license requirements.
  6. Knowledge of material handling processes and procedures, Heijunka/Conveyance.
  7. Be able to pass the written and driving test for Hi-Lo (Fork Truck) license.
  8. Ability to Push and Pull material frequently, using pallet jacks.
  9. Capable of frequent bending and twisting with the ability to lift, repeatedly, up to 50 pounds.
  10. Ability to operate within production and quality standards, including being able to operate/utilize all job-related equipment. 

 

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  1. Previous work in Shipping, Receiving, and cycle counting.
  2. Has up to date Chauffer’s License.
  3. 3-5 Years Manufacturing Experience.
  4. Has experience working materials, shipping/receiving, Heijunka/Conveyance

 

DUTIES:

 

Shipping:

  • Tracks finished goods shortages.  Communicates to manufacturing planners and customer service coordinators.
  • Ships and transfers by using radio frequency equipment and current Information System.
  • Assumes responsibility for customer shipments, paperwork, electronic communications, and other ongoing issues related to customer finished goods deliveries. 
  • Coordinates and completes emergency surface shipments in response to customer requests. 
  • Coordinates requests for re-inspection and/or return of finished goods.
  • Maintains all files and documents necessary to support the shipping function. 
  • Loads and unloads materials, moves materials in and out of storage locations.  Labels and marks pallets as required.  Transfers product  into manufacturing data collection system using radio frequency scanning device

Receiving:

  • Unloads materials, moves materials in and out of storage locations.  Labels and marks pallets as required.  Receives into manufacturing data collection system using radio frequency scanning device.
  • Responsible and accountable for accurate counting of all material received.
  • Performs receiving function against proper POs/contracts for closure. 
  • Maintains all files and documents necessary to support the receiving function. 
  • Verifies receipt log on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for generating receivers to be matched with packing slips and distributed as necessary.
  • Ensures that receiving practices are consistent with other areas of the company.
  • Documents and forwards any discrepancies of pack slip and carton labeling of supplied product to designated department.

Kitting:

  • Responsible for gathering necessary components for SMT area utilizing SAP/Excel
  • Communicate with Material Planners/Program Mangers regarding components shortages, Kanban scheduling and all constraints pertaining to SMT assembly.
  • Utilization of SAP for component commonality, shortages and production BOM Structures.
  • Able to perform inventory cycle counts including reel counting.

MRO/Cycle Counting:

  • Responsible for tracking MRO items minimum and maximum inventory levels.
  • Required to physically locate and count components utilizing SAP.
  • Entry of the result concluding the cycle count. Assist in determining root cause of variance, if any.

 

Heijunka/Conveyance:

•Performs KanBan system, RF system, inventory transactions, barcode scanning.

•Maintains material movement systems and completes proper paperwork and documentation to guide operations of the team.

•Implements, uses, and maintains work instructions pertaining to the warehouse material function.

•Handles customer returnable containers and product for area manufacturing facility.

•Utilizes and supports KanBan Inventory Card Systems (Heijunka).

 

 

Packout:

•Ensures product and process quality and efficiency through appropriate inspection and continuous improvement problem solving activities.  Maintains procedures and standards to provide compliance with quality standards for assigned area

•Inspect and pack product after final assembly

•Efficiently performs basic preventative maintenance and routine product changeover setups. 

•Maintains material movement systems and completes proper paperwork and documentation

•Performs/utilizes the Kanban system, RF system, inventory transactions, and barcode scanning.

•Report any unsafe condition or action to his or her supervisor.

•Report any work-related injury to his or her supervisor.

•Not operate a machine or equipment until trained in the operating procedures, hazards, and safeguards and has been assigned to do so by the employer.

•Not remove, displace, destroy, or carry off any safeguard or interfere with the use by any other person.

•Use required personal protective equipment or devices where required.

•Perform other duties as necessary in support of team objectives.

•Keeps work area clean and organized.

•Other duties as required.
