POSITION SUMMARY:

The Product Engineer is responsible for leading and supporting a cross-functional development team (EE, SW, ME, SYS, V&V) in all technical activities and targets for the project.  The Product Engineer is the technical resource for all engineering disciplines.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred) or demonstrated equivalent skills.
  • 5-8 years’ relevant experience regarding the responsibility / activities (listed above) in serial development. Automotive electronic (mandatory).
  • Proven track record of successful launches of automotive products.
  • Experience with automotive requirements and design preferred.
  • Knowledge of product development engineering practices in automotive field.
  • Profound technical knowledge of automotive electronics products. Familiar with typical automotive OEM requirements.
  • Knowledge of product development engineering practices in automotive field.
  • Experience with requirements engineering and decomposing requirements.
  • Experience with configuration and change management.
  • Working knowledge in structured engineering approach.
  • Working knowledge of configuration management (preferably PTC/MKS), project monitoring and control techniques.
  • Experience with SFMEA/ DFMEA/ PFMEA and DRBFM.
  • Experience with EMC design rules and international test standards.
  • Experience in developing and implementing safety critical electrical hardware, fault tolerance design including familiarity with ASIL safety standards.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging skills knowledge of structured problem solving (8D) methods and/or techniques (5Why, IsIsNot, Fishbone, etc.).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of analog, digital, power, memory, integrated circuits, microcontroller, LED drivers, AUTOSAR and communication protocol (LIN, CAN, CANFd, SPI, I2C, etc.) hardware design and implementation techniques.
  • Working knowledge of CAN and LIN and other automotive networks and related tools.
  • Experience with LEDs, LED drivers and topology.
  • Knowledge of the following tools/software:
    1. Electrical test equipment:  DMM, Oscilloscope, Video Scope, etc.
    2. Software:  APIS-IQ, MS Office package, Windchill, PTC Integrity, CANAlyzer, CANoe, CANape, NeoVI, etc.

Language

  • Comprehensive knowledge of English (verbal and written)
  • Advanced knowledge (verbal &written) of local language required.

 

Travel

Travel (domestic and international) may be needed

DUTIES:

  • Primary technical contact for the Customer and Product Development Team.
  • Support and drive the work of the engineering team members working on software, hardware and mechanical product teams standardization and reuse through Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC) through coordination and leadership of technical product team
  • Lead and maintain engineering change management, configuration management and engineering risk management activities
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, mechanical engineers, firmware engineers, software engineers, validation engineers and system/feature function engineers.
  • Support, monitor, lead and drive defect management (8Ds) to closure and lead the team in all disciplined root cause analysis efforts (both technical and systemic).
  • Ensures engineering targets (quality, delivery timing, performance, product BOM Costs, etc.) for product deliverables are met on-time.
  • Direct the efforts of the product team in the development and production release of engineering deliverables in compliance with product development process and customer expectations.
  • Assess and plan ED activities and determines DV and PV readiness.
  • Prioritizes engineering activities, deliverables & actions in order to achieve engineering timing.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts (VA/VE), cost savings, researches, recommends and initiates implementation of enhancements to products, processes and programs.
  • Develop and maintain of all project documentation.
  • Read and interpret Customer specifications and ensure requirements are documented and incorporated into the product design.
  • Ensure test and analysis coverage validates that the design meets all requirements.
  • Ensure manufacturing process is robust.
  • Responsible for delivery of design work products (FMEA, FTA, WCA, Testability, Requirement Bilateral Traceability, others).
  • Supports and ensures timely and effective negotiation of customer requirements, change requests including unwritten requirements.
  • Drives the discovery and development of necessary Engineering Development (ED) activities.
  • Support customer presentations and act as the primary technical interface to customers on technical topics.
  • Supports engineering quote response for new projects.
  • Responsible for communicating status and timely delivery of all project related work products needed by our manufacturing team. Specifically, ensure design for manufacturability, smooth transition into manufacturing (especially for new designs), and testing of the product.
