Role Summary

Leads and prioritizes the activities of production work teams and Team Leaders.  Ensures that products produced meet the customer needs in the areas of quality and delivery.  Ensures that a safe work environment is maintained at all times.  Participates in continuous improvement activities.  

Key Responsibilities

•    Leads production employees by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. 

•    Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, and analyzing production performance and data.  This includes hourly metrics on all Business Unit Mafact boards, and Production Reporting database.

•    Anticipates safety, quality and productivity problems in work areas and takes immediate action to correct unsafe conditions or actions.  

•    Responsible for proper handling and disposal of all chemicals and ensures employees are appropriately trained in recognizing hazards associated and specific to their job.

•    Discusses safety in pre-shift meetings, completes safety inspections on a routine basis, and ensures compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental policies and ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 standards. 

•    Assists in conducting risk assessments on new and/or modified equipment and/or processes.

•    Conducts performance appraisals for employees

•    Maintains vacation, overtime, training and relief schedules

•    Analyzes daily/weekly production reports and initiates appropriate action. 

•    Monitors utilization of KanBan

•    Uses Standardized Work as a management tool

•    Manages multi-skill development of employees using on-the-job training and training matrices.  

•    Presents information to large and small groups

•    Administers and applies Company policy consistently and fairly.

•    Provides constructive feedback to all employees regularly.

•    Establishes individual development plans by determining needed skills and knowledge.

•    Orientates new employees on processes, policies and procedures.

•    Responsible for maintaining and developing team morale.

•    Lead accident investigations.

•    Performs other duties in support of business objectives.  

Key Qualifications/Requirements

•    Bachelor’s degree in related field; and/or 5+ years related manufacturing leadership experience.  
•    Possess high degree of knowledge in manufacturing.
•    Communication skills in order to work with employees and internal and external contacts.
•    Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for successful performance of job duties
•    Ability to lead and develop others through support, training, etc.  
•    Strong leadership skills to manage, prioritize and deal with many issues at one time.
•    Demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing principles
