Position Summary

Oversees the management of actuator programs and assumes ultimate responsibility for deliverables to assigned customer.  Sets medium to long-range strategies to support operational objectives.  Determines how to implement strategic unit directives.  Provides and applies broad and in-depth operational managerial/technical leadership and expertise to support Customer Business Unit (CBU) new business activities and resolve problems.  Manages goals and objectives. Establishes and maintains strong customer relationships on a domestic and global level.  Serves as expert resource by possessing solid knowledge of Company and customer products and requirements.  Ensures all programs attain established goals with a clear focus on quality, cost, delivery and complete customer satisfaction.  Drives continuous improvement efforts in all areas of program management.  Develops, teaches, and monitors common program management disciplines and ensures consistent use of these disciplines in all programs.  Establishes CBU engineering and development budget and ensures department costs are controlled.  Performs other duties as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities listed below are of a large scope as measured by budget responsibility, staff count, and complexity of multiple disciplines, processes, and/or functional areas of responsibility.  Decisions involve substantial and broad impact and risk to the organization, typically at a corporate and/or global business level.

  • Represents CBU by setting medium to long-range strategies to support operational objectives.  Determines how to implement strategic unit directives.
  • Oversees the management of actuator programs and assumes ultimate responsibility for deliverables to assigned customer. Provides and applies broad and in-depth operational managerial/technical leadership and expertise to support CBU new business activities and resolve multiple discipline, functional or process problems.
  • Establishes and maintains strong customer relationships on domestic and global levels.  Serves as expert resource by possessing solid knowledge of Company and customer products and requirements.
  • Ensures all programs attain established goals with a clear focus on quality, cost, delivery and complete customer satisfaction.
  • Drives continuous improvement efforts in all areas of program management focusing on significant time and cost reductions in engineering and development areas.
  • Develops, teaches, and monitors common program management disciplines and ensures consistent use of these disciplines in all programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Engineering and/or program management experience (7 years minimum) preferred.
  • Must have thorough and complete mastery of respective field.  Must be broadly familiar with technologies, products, customers, and programs. 
  • Achievement and experience with managing a broad range of actuator products preferred.
  • Must be able to oversee the management of programs and take responsibility for critical programs based on large sales volume and/or strategic importance. 
  • Demonstrated superior decision making/leadership abilities in managing multiple programs to meet goals (quality, cost and delivery of programs) from concept through launch.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing project financial responsibilities, leading in the development/measurement of key financial project measures and their effect on customer programs.           
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others through support, training, etc.  Must be able to manage staff toward departmental goals.
