Role Summary
Responsible for follow-up of mechanical systems designs for a variety of assembly applications including welders, robots, conveyance and transfer systems. Applies industry knowledge and experience to manage projects from the quoting phase through commissioning and production. Utilizes planning, resource and task management skills in directing vendors to successful implementation of projects. Can delegate and manage multiple projects at any given time. Is capable of making autonomous decisions based on experience and project requirements; has specialized training either formal or through on-the-job work experience. Travel (possibly international) is often required until equipment is in operation.
Key Responsibilities

1. Responsible to drive and understand customer specifications, both corporate and plant, and applies LMV standards for use in all aspects of mechanical designs.
2. Responsible to support production personnel in root cause analysis and problem resolution of production throughput, quality and cost challenges.
3. Responsible to estimate content and labor costs for proposals and engineering change quotes.
4. Responsible to assign, follow-up and approve vendor work requirements throughout design phase.
5. Responsible to follow-up and ensure vendor progress that meets or exceeds project timing.
6. Responsible for analyzing scope of work during pre-award phase and to assist in development of manpower plan requirements to complete project within time constraints defined in the project timeline.
7. Responsible to give updates to project team including cost projections as engineering changes occur during the life cycle of the project.
8. Responsible to work with customer to finalize design requirements, reviews and approvals throughout design phase.
9. Apply lean manufacturing methods to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements and production standards.
10. Lead or assist in the design & layout of equipment, materials, and workspace utilizing ergonomic standards for maximum efficiency and providing optimal workspaces.
11. Lead or assist with the development and implementation of Standard Work techniques and documentation.
12. Help LMV achieve cost-saving goals in alignment with the business plan.
13. Follow Magna standards as per the MAFACT Guideline.
14. Assist in time study analysis and methods development.
15. Coordinate process improvements in quality, costing, scrap elimination, and operator wellness.
16. Communicate with Customer, Quality, Production and Management on all concerns, as required.
17. Work with Industrial Designer to document plant floor lay-out revisions.
18. Create technical presentations and project justification documentation, as required.
19. Responsible for Installation Risk Assessment, Safety & CE Risk Assessment and MFMEA.
20. Works with the Ergonomic Committee to complete ERA’s on equipment.
21. Works with the Engineer Manager to ensure cross functional communication is taking place when there’s a “process change” that affects engineering and/or other departments.
22. Works with the Engineer Manager to execute projects.
23. Works with the Engineer Manager to track and report project status, CPMP.
24. Works with the Engineer Manager to create project timelines for design tasks from critical project milestones provided by Engineer Manager.
25. Responsible in leading Cross-functional teams to complete PFMEA’s, Process Flows, Standardized Work documentation.
26. Responsible for program management documentation - CPMP open issue updates and Scheduling/leading CPMP Gate Reviews.
27. Works with Engineering Manager on build, integration and commissioning plan.
28. Follows and supports LMV Automotive System’s and Magna’s operating principles
29. Supports efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey.
30. May be required to adjust shifts as necessary.
31. Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications/Requirements
Education and/or Experience: (These qualifications represent the minimum requirements of the position. Employees will be required to possess the ability and aptitudes to perform the duties proficiently.)
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
• Ergonomic experience.
• Outstanding organizational and communication skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Must have good organizational skills to attend to multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must exhibit high integrity and honesty.
• Ability to prepare, read, write and interpret reports, instructions and procedures.
• Able to clearly and effectively respond to questions from management and customers.
• Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, diagrams, requirements and business correspondence.
• Working knowledge of GD&T. and SPC.
• Working knowledge of CAD programs.
• Working knowledge of Analysis of motion/Ergonomics.
• Working knowledge of Mistake Proofing/Poke-Yoke.
• Working knowledge of Control Plan, F.M.E.A., APQP or related experience.
• Must have computer skills (including MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions for various groups.
