Role Summary

The Materials Planner will perform all duties with the goal of excellent supplier releasing, customer service, continuous improvement, quality expectations and safety.  The Material Planner will effectively communicate any potential interruption in part supply and ensures a persistent follow through until a resolution is achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage supplier component processing in a JIT type environment.
  • Develop a rapport with suppliers to facilitate good communication processes.
  • PFEP Integration with supplier inventory and storage parameters.
  • Initiate and follow up with vendors as required - daily, hourly, off shifts as required.
  • Develop a working knowledge of part processes and lead times.
  • Prepare, review and send weekly EDI vendor releases.
  • Generate Supply Web releases and upload to the website, where applicable.
  • Ensure the specific activities required to run MRP have been completed.
  • Reconcile CUMs with vendors weekly.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Logistics/Supply Chain Diploma/Degree
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; a team player – detail oriented
  • 3+ years’ experience working with Suppliers/Inventory Control/ Customer Service in a JIT automotive environment
  • Ability to multi-task/prioritize
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Excellent mathematical skills, good computer skills

Additional Information

  • Issue/follow up with Delivery Performance report for non-conformances.
  • Request/review corrective action requests from suppliers.
  • Reconcile Inventory issues.
  • Ensure suppliers are meeting delivery window times and requirements.
  • Initiate supplier development activities as required.
  • Provide continuous improvement actions on inventory Glide Path reduction.
  • Ensure all supplier parameters are set up properly.
  • Adhere to all Company requirements.
  • Participate in any planned physical inventories.
  • Participate, adhere and develop operating procedures as part of the company’s ongoing implementation of IATF initiatives
  • All other duties as required.
