Role Summary

Proactive manpower planning and coordination of all warehouse activities encompassing all production and customer expectations are adhered to. Responsible for the set-up and maintenance of the warehousing systems, material flow, PFEP, containers and packaging. Accountable for material processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain the PFEP (Plan For Every Part) matrix database.
  • Responsible for approving and improving the pack density to improve/optimize freight / trailer utilization, storage and part presentation to assembly operators.
  • Responsible for creating & approving packaging approval documents – PADS.
  • Updates USPEC packaging customer portal.
  • Distribute RFQ for all freight lanes as required & negotiates all aspects of the freight logistic process (pricing, terms, qualifications, fuel surcharge etc.).
  • Track all freight savings on the Freight glide path reduction matrix.
  • Co-ordination of all inbound and applicable outbound MSC shipment traffic.
  • Weekly update of the Freight Predictability Tracking Matrix.
  • Ensures that all premium freight is approved and captured on the Premium Freight log and all applicable supplier QPF’s are submitted.
  • Create, implement and update window times & dock door assignments.
  • Design, develop and implement logistic processes, procedures, policies, forms and ensures TS16949, Mafact, MMOG and MMSA compliance.
  • Ensures that the Freight Cost Cards / Routing forms are on file and up to date.
  • Maintain freight carrier integrity checks are in place and up to date.
  • Ensure the warehouse floor plan supports effective storage and movement of all purchased and finished goods using FIFO and supermarket concepts.
  • Ensures all components have a home location and tracked for compliance.
  • Responsible to ensure 100% inspection of quantity’s received and that random audits are conducted using scales for accuracy of quantities that we receive.
  • Supervise, train, coach and conduct performance reviews for the Material Handlers and Shipper/Receivers.
  • Ensure there is adequate shift coverage to meet the daily requirements.
  • Assist with inventory cycle counts and applicable corrective actions.
  • Responsible to ensure effective communication between all shifts.
  • Responsible to foster a safe environment that is based on teamwork with all other departments and conduct regular safety walks.
  • Work with Continuous Improvement and Corrective Action teams to increase department and plant efficiency.
  • Initiate incident and accident investigation reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensure standard work is followed and documented.
  • Actively participate in the Plant Physical Inventory and month end process.
  • Responsible to ensure the timely and accurate payroll entries.
  • Approves vacation requests & ensures adequate back-up coverage is in place.
  • Responsible to track and address employee attendance and performance issues
  • Ensures all material handling equipment is in working condition and issues are addressed as soon as possible.
  • Co-Champion Lead on the MAFACT and MMSA Audits.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Adheres to the IATF16949 Standard as required
  • Must comply with all ISO 14001 (Environmental) and OHSAS 18001 (Health and Safety) systems and standards as it pertains to their work
  • Abide by all AODA and C-TPAT procedures that apply to their position

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer software including but not limited to MRP, Drive, and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & PowerPoint preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including reading, writing English language
  • Strong organizational skills and time management
  • Must have strong problem-solving ability
  • Must be able to perform under tight time constraints in a fast-paced environment
