Mission of the Position

 

The Director of Global Warranty and Product Performance Advisory Committee (PPAC) will be responsible for the development and implementation of a Standardized Warranty Process and PPAC process which will be utilized globally in MPT. The purpose of the new standardized process is to improve the current product quality by identifying the root cause of the problem and implementing interim and/or permanent corrective action, that ensures the existing problem, or any similar problems are prevented in the future. This position includes interfaces with Finance, Program Management, Product Development, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing locations, Legal and Magna International. 

 

This person will assist the organization in resolving customer quality concerns where the quality non-compliance may have an impact on product performance.  They will take the lead on these PPAC issues and coordinate all activities with the division and appropriate regional group as well as Magna Powertrain Group. We can offer you to work from our locations in Lannach (AT), Untergruppenbach (DE) or Troy (USA).

What you can expect

 

  • Oversight for communication to the customer as regards issues:
    • Alignment of external communication
    • MPT and Magna interests must be defended wherever possible/ speculative conjecture is to be avoided
    • Lead and/or Support divisions with the customer meetings on Warranty Topics and PPAC topics
  • Oversight of corrective actions in the warranty arena:
    • Employ 8-D problem solving supplemented by Red X / Six Sigma disciplines as required
    • Emphasize systemic corrections
    • Lessons learned reviews (always)
    • Read Lessons Learned on systemic back into PDP processes
  • Responsible for Warranty T&C’s review, oversight, and sign off on warranty terms on OEM programs as subject matter expert.
  • Monitors and drives the management of all Escalations in MPT regarding Warranty
  • Monitor and drive the closure of warranty topics with groups that linger for years.
  • Responsible for standardized process, training, and approach for Warranty in MPT
  • Responsible for reporting/KPIs on Warranty topics of the various group with summary to management
  • Will work with PPAC committee to determine whether topic is an Escalation topic or moves to PPAC.
  • Support SQD in supplier engagement in problem solving for all warranty cases.
  • Support product groups to Monitor the divisions’, customers’ databases, and public domain data (i.e.NHSTA,KBA) to identify any issues that may impact product performance or emerging issue detection.
  • Oversight on divisional quality manager and regional quality lead on problem-solving for warranty and/or PPAC topics
  • Support all cross functional meetings to ensure root cause, corrective actions and preventative actions are identified and implemented
  • Support best practices/read across activities amongst divisions to promote systemic improvements
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to divisional Quality Managers, group level warranty engineers, engineering, and others in the plants and group offices for Warranty and PPAC.

What you bring along

 

  • Successful graduation of a technical education (Technical Bachelor’s degree desired).
  • Minimum 10 plus years work experience required in Manufacturing/Quality environment and Warranty.
  • At least three years of hands-on, plant-floor experience in a Quality Engineer and -Operations Leadership capacity in a machining and assembly environment advantageous.
  • High level of analytical ability; comprehensive understanding of Quality systems, tools, and Manufacturing processes. Demonstrated problem solving skills, i.e., 5 Why Analysis, 8 Discipline Approach, Shainin Redx, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Excellent computer skills required.  Proficient with MS Office suite, web-based and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 / IATF 16949.
  • Related manufacturing/industry experience, powertrain components is desired.
  • Strong leader and Team player with effective written and verbal communication skills in German and English.
  • Moderate willingness to travel on business to the extent of 25 % (basis calendar year) within globally.

For this function, we offer an attractive remuneration package in line with your individual experience and qualifications. The gross monthly salary for 38.5 hours according to the collective agreement of the automotive industry is at least € 6.428,57 (14 x p.a.) excluding variable salary components/bonus, which are provided for this position.
