Role Summary

Magna New Mobility, the newest division of Magna International, is focused on innovating sustainable mobility solutions for the future. We are seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer to assist in developing our greenfield core software platform on AWS. This Principal Cloud Engineer role will be Hybrid (onsite 3 days per week) in our Lowell, Massachusetts office or can be based in Troy, Michigan. #LI-Hybrid

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptualization, execution, and upkeep of cloud architecture solutions that are both highly scalable and resilient. 
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deeply comprehend business requirements and transform them into streamlined software solutions. 
  • Offer technical mentorship and leadership to junior engineers, actively supporting their skill advancement and fostering an atmosphere of perpetual learning. 
  • Evaluate novel cloud technologies and tools, providing recommendations for their seamless integration and adoption to enhance overall system efficiency. 
  • Conduct comprehensive code reviews, deliver constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to coding standards and exemplary practices. 
  • Collaborate intimately with DevOps teams to implement efficient CI/CD pipelines, effectively facilitating prompt and dependable software delivery. 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Possess significant hands-on experience in Object-Oriented programming models and a proven track record in Golang and MongoDB for production-level projects. 
  • Demonstrate familiarity with contemporary distributed software architecture patterns, microservices, message queues like Kafka and SQS, and cloud-based solutions. 
  • Expertise in developing APIs, including REST, gRPC and GraphQL, and possess cloud development experience for native deployment. 
  • Experience in working with any of the public cloud providers, AWS strongly preferred 
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to cloud data security, such as GDPR, PCI, or ISO 27001.
