Role Summary
The Controller will manage accounting and financial policies, procedures and practices to ensure adequate control, recording, reporting and analysis of the company’s business transactions, operating results, assets and liabilities. Administer planning and budgeting systems and general/cost accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned and required.
- Prepare, review and analyze monthly/yearly financial documents, trends and forecasting in production environment
- Train, manage, develop and supervise all accounting personnel
- Communicate with Corporate, Management, Production, Engineering, and Quality regarding financial concerns
- Actively implement and track all cost reduction programs
- Support IATF 16949 and other quality management and environmental systems
- Support efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey
- Follow and support Magna Body & Chassis Iowa and Magna’s operating principles and display the company’s core values on a regular and consistent basis
- Establish and maintain reporting systems for financial performance of the division.
- Forecast sales and business planning to meet financial targets established by Cosma and Magna.
- Develop Business Plan with fellow managers to record and improve financial performance of the division
- Orchestrate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing while meeting all internal and external reporting deadlines
- Ensure compliance with all General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ensure compliance with Magna Ethical Business procedures
- Maintain compliance with Mafact guidelines related to Finance
- Implement key indicators to determine relevance to business plan
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Four year degree in Accounting/Finance
- 5+ years’ experience
- Minimum of two years’ experience supervising others
- Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Must have good organizational skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office software skills
- Strong attention to detail
