Role Summary

Would you like to work in manufacturing, but you do not have experience? Would you like to get training on the job and in a school environment – while being paid for both?

If you would like to join Magna Seating and get in on the ground floor of a new apprenticeship program, then we have an opportunity for you! Magna Seating is partnering with Spartanburg Community College to develop a new program called AMPED.

In this role you are hired as a Magna employee. You would attend Spartanburg Community College (for free!) on Mondays and Tuesdays, then would then work at Magna Seating Wednesdays through Fridays. Even better, you are paid not only for the hours you work but also the hours you are in school!

The program lasts for 12-weeks and you will receive a certificate for the program. You then transition to a full-time Magna employee – with a pay bump!

Employment opportunities under this program are available for Production Operators and Maintenance Technicians.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As a general production/assembler, team members must be able to learn and perform all operations in the assembly department within the allotted time and quality standards for each operation.

After hours and weekend work may be required.

Job Duties:

 Complete all necessary paperwork on time and accurately such as traceability reports, scrap sheets, daily production reports, 5S checklists, and start-up checklists.

 Follow COVID-19 Prevention Protocols, including wearing a mask and proper PPE while onsite, and social distancing and sanitizing, disinfecting, or cleaning procedures in place.

 Maintain 5S and housekeeping practices.

 Understand your responsibility to the environmental programs, including ISO14001.

 Participate in problem solving and continuous improvement activities, even those not listed in this description.

 Each team member will be required to rotate every two (2) hours in an established rotation within their assigned cell.

 Team members must be able to perform any combination of these operations throughout the day as required to meet production demands.

 Other functions performed by general production/assemblers include, but are not limited to, cleanup (housekeeping), seat teardown, minor rework, minor equipment maintenance and adjustments, and control of non-conforming material.

 Participate in recycle program where applicable.  Comply with Quality, Environmental, Shop Rules, and Safety Rules.

 Team members are responsible to understand the descriptions, quality, and time requirements identified in the work instructions of each operation they are trained on.

 With reasonable experience, the team member is responsible to meet process, quality and time requirements of each operation.

 Team members are responsible for participating on quality teams as required for process improvement.

 Complies with Quality, Environmental and Material Management System requirements.

 As needed, general production team members are required to assist other departments and perform many other duties as requested by department Supervisors (i.e., parts inspection, assembly of product, cleaning of parts, and plant inventory).

 Perform on-the-job training as required.

 Communicate all quality, safety and customer satisfaction issues in a timely manner.

 Perform all tasks as per ODS and perform in station repairs as required.

 All other duties as assigned.

 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

 A high school diploma or GED required.

 Assembly Experience (minimum of 6 months) in a fast-paced environment is required.

 Proficient in written and spoken English.

 Ability to work in a multi-cultural, team-oriented environment.

 Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;

 Proficient in written and spoken English.

 Perform task that require dexterity and physical fitness to complete job duties.

 Ability to read, understand and use technical drawings and measuring devices is preferred.

 Ability to understand and apply Lean Manufacturing/JIT concepts is preferred.

 Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

 Stable work history and strong work ethic.

 Excellent hand-eye coordination/ Detail oriented.

 Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

 Applicant may be subject to a background check.

 Ability to work any shift schedule according to business needs;

 Able to work overtime and travel with little notice.

 Must be able to communicate needs to others in their work areas and interact in a professional manner.

 Must be able to communicate their level of comprehension to individuals who train them and must be able to relay problems to their Supervisor.

 Team members are required to wear personal protective equipment as indicated by their job.

 While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to stand a long period of time, stoop, bend, walk, and sit.

Use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Reach with hands and arms; Climb stairs; Talk and hear.

 The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs.

 Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Team members must also be able to discern various shades of color for all materials.

 Team members must be able to use a variety of tools (i.e., hog-ring gun, torque gun, screw driver and mallets etc.

 Ability to work in a team environment.
