Role Summary
- Supervises and trains skilled and unskilled staff in the maintenance department. Schedules work and assigns duties to ensure installation, repair and maintenance of company facilities, manufacturing equipment and fixtures are carried out in a timely manner and required paperwork is completed.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct safety talks with maintenance personnel
- Enforce all shop rules, every day; including promoting and maintaining good housekeeping
- Hire, train and manage the hourly maintenance team
- Lead the Maintenance Apprentice program by coaching and evaluating students on their technical ability
- Address all labor related issues with hourly employees
- Prioritize maintenance manpower and resources for all 3 shifts & set strategic direction for maintenance
- Prioritize daily project lists and PM activity (including overseeing and follow-up)
- Manage the maintenance budget
- Document skills and training matrix for all maintenance personnel
- Responsible for all environmental aspects of facility
- Responsible for quoting, locating, ordering, stocking all repair and spare parts for maintenance
- Aid in the set-up, purchasing of machinery for tool room and maintenance area
Key Responsibilities, Continued
- Coordinate, schedule and interact with external Customers, Vendors and Service Technicians
- Support manufacturing and electrical engineering for continuous improvement
- Requires knowledge of lean manufacturing and cellular machining concepts
- Understands principles of machine repair and basics of automotive manufacturing
- Responsible for entry and reporting of all machine downtime through the maintenance system
