Role Summary

The GOM/CMM Programmer will be responsible for utilizing GOM/CMM software to create programs for the inspection of manufactured parts and assemblies. All applicable blueprints and technical drawings will be referenced as needed, as well as any communication with engineers and support functions as required. The GOM/CMM programmer writes inspection programs in accordance to the best application (GOM or CMM) while ensuring accuracy to dimensioned tolerances.

Key Responsibilities

Writes GOM/CMM programs to ensure products meet specified requirements
Ensures proper calibration of all GOM and CMM devices used within the facility
Maintains the lab and its associated equipment
Manages the coordination and reports for Gage R&R studies and MSA Compliance
Coordinates and reports capability studies
Manages assignments for the lab to ensure timely inspections for production, prototype and other inspection as required 
Maintains open door communication and promote issue free environment
Manage and Maintain Quality Lab inspection records and Quality Database(s)
Ensure that inspection is Control Plan compliant
Gage development and design during the APQP and CIP processes
Drive CIP and cost savings measures through proactive techniques and supplier improvement

Responsible for interpreting blueprints for parts and gages
Responsible for applying GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) to inspection methods
Responsible for programming GOM/CMM for inspection of in-process and finished parts
Program GOM/CMM to inspect gages and fixtures
Program GOM/CMM to perform inspection with open set-ups (no fixtures) as required
Responsible for proving out GOM/CMM programs for use by other technicians
Responsible for analyzing data for discussion with engineers/suppliers/technicians to make adjustments
Act as liaison between quality and engineering (product, quality, supplier)
Act as the go-to person for technical support for all dimensional issues
Design and develop gages, fixtures, tooling for current and future products.
Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Understand and comply with IATF16949, ISO-14001, OHSAS18001 requirements and all local, state and federal regulations.
Perform other duties as related to this specific position

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Highschool Diploma or GED
At least two years of GOM/CMM programming or equivalent work experience / training
Prefered but not required: ASQ Certified Mechanical Inspector or Certified Quality Technician
Experience with PC-DMIS, GOM ATOS Profesional, ANSYS SpaceClaim, and Solidworks Software
A working knowledge of statistics and data analysis is useful in this position, as this job requires the programmer to analyze inspection data
Manufacturing (machining and assembly experience) 
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build teamwork and cooperation among workforce and intercompany is essential Demonstrates computer and analytical skills are required 
Ability to travel as required is necessary 
Requires strong interpersonal, facilitation, and organizational skills
Knowledge of manufacturing enviornment
GD&T and print reading experience
Computer literate in MS Excel, Word, Outlook
