Role Summary

The Shift Leader--Mechanical is primarily responsible for ensuring production support and assigned work is completed by the shift.  This position will have a strong working knowledge of the shop floor and all things associated with leading a maintenance shift in a lean manufacturing environment.

 

Wage: $46.53 - $50.04

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Karmax.
  2. Perform all Supervisory duties in a safe manner in accordance with Section 27 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishment
  3. Follow Magna’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
  4. Assists in the training of Trade Co-op Students, Apprentices and Journeyman in accordance with the principles of the Employee Charter and the policies and procedures set out in the Karmax Handbook.
  5. Assists in plant support, trouble shooting, repairs and system improvements
  6. Organizes and coordinates the activities of Maintenance employees to ensure that production and/or repairs conform to quality standards outlined by the company and/or customer requirements
  7. Responsible for the effective operation of the crew during off shifts or during the absence of the Technical Leader or Supervisor.
  8. Perform all duties in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Karmax Environmental Policy Statement—3 P’s. Prevent Pollution, Preserve Natural Resources & Protect our Environment
  9. Perform other duties as required.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Grade 12 Education or GED
  • Certificate of Qualification Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) 433
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a licensed Millwright.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to work in various locations within and outside the Manufacturing Plant.
  • Must be able to work Rotating Shifts & Weekend Overtime to meet Department Requirements with a Minimum amount of Supervision.
  • Lifting up to 20 kgs
  • Exposed regularly to elements such as temperature and noise
  • Must be comfortable working at heights and within confined spaces.
