Role Summary

Work alongside an Electrical Journeyman and assists with maintaining and repairing Production Equipment and Facilities. 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • 2nd Year Apprenticeship completed 
  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude 
  • Experience in Industrial Manufacturing Setting
  • Must be currently enrolled in a recognized Apprenticeship Program with 2 to 3 yars of related experience. 
  • Previous experience with troubleshooting
  • Basic knowledge of PLC and CNC's 
  • Ability to control/understand all electrical requirements throughout plant
  • Robotics and Automation experience is an asset 
  • Must be computer literate
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading and electrical and electronic control schematics.
  • Knowledge of electrical code of Ontario
  • Sound knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team player.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses equipment malfunctions using appropriate test instruments and circuit diagrams.
  • Maintains and repairs electrical/electronic/electromechanical systems.
  • Fabricates and/or installs electrical/electronic/electromechanical systems.
  • Follows all safety precautions and procedures.  Ensures that all equipment is safe before releasing to production.
  • Able to do simple fabrication of mechanical components using toolroom equipment for bracketry or installation modifications of electrical devices.
  • Performs all electrical Preventive Maintenance related inspections, records results and reports results as per procedure.
  • Reports all electrical issues to the Supervisor immediately.
  • Read and interpret drawings and electrical code specifications to deteremine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations. 
  • Read electrical and electronic schematics as well as basic hydraulic and pneumatic circuits
  • Install, examine, replace and repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assembles, light fixtures and other electrical components 
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
  • Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers such as Allen Bradley, Siemans and Omron
  • Track various SPC charts on machine performance 
  • Request maintenance manager to requisition materials and supplies as needed
  • Follows the policies and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Additional duties as requested
 

Additional Information

 

  • Regularly exposed to work environment consisting of heat and noise.
  • Be able to work rotating hour, routine hours with occasional overtime.
  • Works under general supervision on assigned tasks.
  • On Call Servicing required to support assigned area.
