Precision Technologies, a division of Magna Powertrain, located in Mississauga, Ontario is a world class leader in the area of manufacturing and supplying automotive parts, we provide full in-house die casting products and machining capabilities.  We are currently recruiting for a Licensed Mouldmaker, Electrician, Millwright, and Quality Engineer to join our team. Magna Powertrain is a premier supplier for the global automotive industry in the fields of Powertrain design, development, testing and manufacturing. Magna Powertrain is an operating unit of Magna International.


Primary Function


Plans, organizes, directs and controls human resources function of the company.  Plans human resource requirements in conjunction with other departmental managers.



    • University Degree specializing in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or equivalent work experience in Human Resources
    • CHRP an asset
    • 4-5 years experience in a manufacturing / automotive environment preferred.
    • Ability to prove full range of Human Resources services
    • Superior problem solving and communication skills
    • Negotiating skills and employee relationship development skills
    • Strong use and knowledge of Excel, Word, and various presentations type software packages
    • Communicates clearly with customer focused vision
    • Assigns the highest priority to customer satisfaction while meeting commitments to achieve business objectives
    • Practices and maintains integrity while following the Magna Powertrain Employee’s Charter and Precision Technologies Employee handbook
    • Creates a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional/technical knowledge
    • Responsible for promoting and seeking excellence in all aspects of business
    • Manages STA, LTD and Return to work program.
      Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Coordinates internal and external recruitment activities through Careernet. Creates job postings attends interviews and prepare offer letters for new employees. Ensure “Buddy” program is being maintained.
    • Completes regular reporting of employee headcount and monitors temporary employee program.
    • Prepares and reports out monthly KPI’s and KMI’s and other monthly reporting requirements.
    • Maintains job descriptions and ensures that they are updated annually by department Managers.
    • Back up payroll administration and support for auditing of benefits and payroll administration.
    • Contributes to long term strategic planning regarding Division’s human resource needs in terms of quantity of staff, development, trends, shortages, etc.
    • Coordinates employee training and development with department administrator.  Evaluates effectiveness of training through performance evaluations.
    • Ensure employee onboarding requirements are being completed and maintain orientation presentation.
    • Draft policies and procedures where necessary to support workforce management.
    • Ensures the implementation and adherence to performance evaluation method by all supervisors and managers.
    • Organizes and conducts employee information meetings and develop material promoting employment policy, benefits, and compensation and participates actively on various joint committees. 
    • Provides and assists management and employees in maintaining effective communication.  Follows up on all employee concerns within 24 hours if possible.
    • Drives results of EOS Action Plan with department managers and senior management
    • Advises and assists other departmental managers in interpretation and administration of personnel policies and programs.  Provides advice in the proper and legal handling of hiring, terminations and resignations as well as disciplinary warnings and probation periods
    • Ensures compliance and keeps up-to-date with all legislation such as Employment Standards Act, Pay Equity Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Human Rights Code
    • Conducts wage and benefit surveys.  Analyses results to ensure Division is meeting compensation goals and policy.  Participates in salary adjustments/reviews with employees
    • Has responsibility for hiring, evaluating, motivating, disciplining and termination of employees within Administration/HR department in conjunction with General Manager
    • Maintain employee engagement activities and administration of employee recognition and suggestion program.
    • Maintains shop floor presence on a regular basis
