Primary Function

An Industrial Millwright is responsible for the daily maintenance of all mechanical functions in the plant, ensuring preventative maintenance is completed all while minimizing downtime and keeping production running.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Industrial Millwright Mechanic Ontario Provincial Licence
  • Millwright Certificate, 3 years Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems experience
  • Must be able to communicate in both written and spoken English
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team player
  • Must demonstrate patience and consistent attention to detail
  • Must have good organizational skills, and be a self starter
  • Must work with minimum supervision
  • Must be able to perform root cause analysis of failure
     
    Technical Requirements:
  • Ability to read Blue Prints, use precision instruments (Imperial and Metric)
  • Ability to read and interpret Hydraulic and Pneumatic schematics
  • Ability to understand and apply the basics of toolroom equipment operation (engine lathe, grinding machine, milling machine, etc.)
  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Basic plumbing and pipe fitting knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and programmable logic controller machine circuits.
  • Gas Fitter License would be an asset.
     

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the Millwright are detailed below, but not limited to the following:

  • Performs gas and electric welding.
  • Ensures that all work and inspections are properly documented.
  • Repair, maintain and troubleshoot all equipment and machines to ensure the efficient, safe operation of all machinery with the shortest down time.
  • Conduct regular inspections on all machinery for defects and potential problems in accordance with preventative maintenance program, repairing and replacing parts as required in time specified.
  • Ensure fluid levels are maintained at appropriate levels in respective equipment and machinery.
  • Order appropriate materials and supplies.
  • Modifies machinery and equipment.
  • Fabricates and welds basic metal components and assemblies.
  • Track various SPC charts on machine performance.
  • Performs any and all other assignments from time to time as management so directs.

 

Health & Safety:

A worker is responsible to ensure that they:

  • Are in compliance with all rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Are in compliance with all Health and Safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Health and Safety Management System
  • Are in compliance with all Environmental policies and procedures as outlined in the Environmental Management System.
  • Observe standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the occupational Health & Safety Act as well as rules and regulations outlined in the Employee Handbook. 
  • Observe standards under OHSA Section 25 (1), (2), 26 (1), (2) and (3). (See Form: H/S E4.4.1.1. Workplace Health and Safety Responsibilities – Employer –see attachment).
  • Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker.  Specific accountabilities for safety include, but are not limited to performing regular workplace inspections, conducting/participating in safety talks, staff meetings, cell meetings, actively participating in accident/incident investigations, training new employees, identifying and correcting unsafe acts or conditions. 

         Working Conditions:

  • Regularly exposed to work environment consisting of heat and noise.
  • Be able to work rotating hour, routine hours with occasional overtime.
  • Works under general supervision on assigned tasks.
  • On Call Servicing required to support assigned area.
